Leah Rae Wiley, beloved daughter of Russell and Kelly Wiley, passed away at their Colorado Springs home on April 21, 2006. Leah, a senior at The University of Colorado at Boulder, was born in Colorado Springs on September 22, 1982 and graduated from Cheyenne Mountain High School in 2001. At the time of her death, Leah was preparing for graduate school and a career in Psychology. An athlete and student leader, she co-captained the Varsity Soccer Team in 2001, served on Student council, and as Vice President of her Senior Class. A young lady of grace, beauty and intellect tempered with compassion, she was active in local charities and service organizations, including the National Charity League, Interact, and was honored as a 2001 Colorado Springs Debutante for her contributions to the community. As a hobbyist and sentimentalist, Leah compiled volumes of pictures, poems and commentary recording those special moments of joy found with friends and family, reminding us of what, in her short life, she contributed to ours. Leah is survived by her parents, Russell and Kelly, and her sister and best friend, Shey Michelle Wiley. Also mourning her loss are her grandparents: Judy Chilsen, Kenneth and Kathy Newby, D.J. and Thomas Mou and Richard Wiley; and her aunts and uncles: Nikki and Bob Athey, Randy Newby and Rick and Gwen Wiley; and her cousin, Donni Lee Athey. Thanks to the many friends who have gathered in support and to share our grief. To honor Leah's love of animals, in lieu of flowers, donations in Leah's name may be sent to The Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region. A Celebration of Life in Leah's memory will begin at 11:00 a.m., Saturday April 29, in the Cheyenne Mountain High School Auditorium, to be followed by a reception at the Cheyenne Mountain Lodge at the Broadmoor South Golf Course.
