A woman whose body was found last month between two local hotels committed suicide by drug overdose, according to the Montgomery County Coroner's Office.

The coroner's office identified the woman as Joy Mock, 33, of South Main Street.

"It is the opinion of the forensic pathologist that Joy Mock died of a drug overdose," said Ken Betz, director of the coroner's office.

The drug used was heroin.

A former law enforcement officer traveling through Ohio discovered Mock's body around 10:30 a.m. on Sept. 13 in the 300 block of Prestige Place in Miami Twp. The coroner's office believes Mock died on Sept. 2.

Timothy Etheridge of Rusk, Texas, who had checked into Hawthorn Suites on his way to the East Coast, found Mock's body near a white wooden fence that separates Hawthorn Suites from The Double Tree by Hilton. Her body was found approximately 20 feet from the fence and tree line on the Doubletree side, according to Miami Twp. Police Sgt. Rex Thompson.
