Lee Thomas Schlagel, 25, Sioux Falls, died on April 18, 2011, in the USD Sanford Medical Center after suffering an asthma attack.
Funeral services were held on April 23 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Clark with the Rev. Robin Schaunaman officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery at Clark.
Active casketbearers were Eric Warren, Billy Krikac, Jay Kruger, Bryce DesLauriers, Matt Lindgren and Don Hoonhorst. Honorary casketbearers were all of his current and former teammates. Organist was Lynette Flint.
Schlagel was born on July 24, 1985, at Watertown to Terry and Deb (Olson) Schlagel. He graduated from Clark High School in 2004. He attended Minnesota West in Worthington, Minn. Currently, he was employed by Citibank in Sioux Falls as a customer service reprepresentative.
Survivors include his parents, Terry and Deb Schlagel of Clark; a sister, Cassi (Daniel) Bloom of Watertown; a niece; his grandmother, Mildred Olson of Clark (formerly of Oldham-Madison area); and aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Wesley Olson and Glenn and Arlene Schlagel; and an uncle.
