Kaneshia Thomas was a basketball player for Franklin County High School in Carnesville, Georgia.

She died yesterday afternoon in a rollover accident on I-85 as she traveled with her teammates to a scrimmage game in Banks County. Thomas was a passenger in a Mazda Tribute driven by Gwendolyn Hicks, the mother of another teammate.

Early reports are that the driver of the car in front of the Tribute was distracted by a cell phone and had to take evasive action to avoid another vehicle, causing the driver of the Tribute to lock up the brakes, causing it to fishtail, and ultimately rollover.

Thomas was not wearing her seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. Two other passengers, Sierra Simpson and Jazmaine Williams-Perry, were also injured in the crash.

Holly Wilk is the coach of the Lady Lions basketball team, she had this to say about Kaneshia Thomas….

"She was a very unique person, always thinking of others, always positive and very conscientious young lady. If you have to describe Kaneshia because of how she thought of others you'd have to say an angel was taken up last night."
