Authorities today released the identity of a woman killed in a head-on collision Tuesday on Warrior River Road.

Emily Denise Cunningham, 20, of Adger, was pronounced dead on the scene of the morning accident, said Jefferson County Deputy Coroner Phillip Russell.

Authorities said she was driving east, when her vehicle crossed the center stripe and collided with a tractor-trailer truck that was traveling west. The driver of the truck attempted to slow and get off the road, but was unable to do so before the vehicles collided, said Chief Deputy Randy Christian of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office.

"The evidence at the scene appeared to confirm the truck driver's account of what happened," Christian said.

Cunningham was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the wreck about 8:45 a.m. in the 7300 block of Warrior River Road, Christian said.
