Bullying has become a central part of a lot of debate these days. There have been multiple suicides including the well known case of Tyler Clementi who committed suicide after his roommate outed him for being gay.
Today, with a heavy heart, I found out by Facebook a girl I knew a while ago committed suicide yesterday after being bullied . What troubled me most about this sad story is that even after she committed suicide, her bullies still continued to torment her. A Facebook page was made by her friend entitled "R.I.P Britney Tongel, 2/16/11." It is filled with loving comments from thousands of people who knew her or relate to her story. Many of them express condolences and are grieving the loss of a friend they held so dear.
However, among all the posts from people who truly loved Britney's spirit there are comments and pictures that document what exactly drove her to the edge to begin with. Pictures of Britney with captions that say things like "in hell, i'll still be a w----," "I deserved to be bullied," and most sickening of all "she is better off dead."
Her family commented with rage promising to press charges on the people who are posting these pictures. In all around 25 pictures were posted with various captions. Although they have been removed from her page they are still easy enough to find.
When have some people become some insensitive to the true meaning of loss? As big of a coward one must be to bully the living, they are 10x more cowardly bullying the dead.
