From Ward's band's myspace

This is Fatty with a post to all of the myspacers out there who have enjoyed the fruits of Meateater's labors and supported us over the last 8+ years.

On the morning of Tuesday, December 2nd (2008) Meateater came to a sudden and unexpected end when Id, our bandmate and good friend of many years, chose to take his own life at the end of a rope. He will be missed by many... far more than I believe he ever realized. Such is the nature of mental illness I suppose. To those who never had the privilege of knowing him personally, he was a singular human being in a sea of banality and it cannot be overstated how profoundly influential he was to me as an individual. It has only been two days now and I already miss him desperately. He is survived by a wife and two children.

As for the future of Meateater, I doubt there will be any. I think kev and I both feel it is only appropriate that Meateater be laid to rest along with Id. Having said that, kev and I both hope to start new music projects under new names with new faces involved. We will post any relevant news to this regard here on Meateater's space.

In the coming weeks, I will hopefully be sifting through the rather overwhelming amount of data that Meateater has created over the years and trying to "polish" and archive the stuff that was anywhere near completion. Some of this may end up here on myspace, but I can't say for sure. It will depend on what I find and how much energy I am able to summon for it.

So, there you have it.

On behalf of all three Meaties, I thank you all very much for your support and encouragement over the years and I am very sorry to those of you who will find this news especially hard to take.
