Alex Aven, 25, passed away at his home in Houston Monday, Oct. 27, 2008.
He was born Jan. 11, 1983, to Thomas and Ann Aven, of Alamogordo. He graduated from Alamogordo High School in 2001 and from UTI in Houston in 2003.
Alex was a mechanic in the oil industry in Houston. He was an avid collector who enjoyed working on his truck and exploring the latest technology.
He recently started his own business in the telecommunications industry. We were very proud of Alex for his hard work and dedication.
Survivors include his parents, Thomas and Ann Aven, of the family home; two sisters, Eileen Aven, of Las Cruces, and Sandra Gallegos and husband, Eric, of Mesilla; three nephews, Noah, Benjamin and Abram Gallegos; his aunt Stella Godbey, of Jacksboro, Texas; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, of Ireland.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Bruce and Lillie Mae Aven, and maternal grandparents, Patrick and Rose Bennett.
Alex was loved very much and will be greatly missed by all.
In his memory donations may be made to Alamogordo Hospice, the library or your charity of choice.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday Nov. 13, 2008, at St. Jude Mission with Father Wayne S. Herpin, S.J., as celebrant.
Inurnment will follow at St. Jude Columbarium.
The Aven family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the funeral arrangements.
