Benjamin A. "Ben" Onstott, 16, was embraced by his heavenly Father, and his Dad, (Steve Onstott), Thursday, November 6, 2008, at his home. Ben was born August 11, 1992 to Steve and Julie Ward Onstott in Daviess County. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, a sophomore at Owensboro Catholic High School, where he enjoyed football and music. He enjoyed rooting for the Green Bay Packers, the Spurs "Ginobli", playing the guitar, being with the youth group at Blessed Mother, and being with his family, especially his sisters and his brother-in-law, Caleb, and he loved his special niece, Felicity Payne. He enjoyed spending quality time with Josh and Jacob Linn and their family. He had a wonderful sense of humor, loved life, and had a tender, warm, affectionate heart, with a strong defense of his Catholic Faith.
He was preceded in death by his father, Steve Onstott on April 16, 2005.
Survivors include his mother and step-father, Julie and Keith Murphy of Owensboro; his sisters, Amanda Payne and her husband, Caleb of Lexington, and Brett Onstott of Philpot; maternal grandmother, Theresa Ward of Owensboro, and paternal grandmother, Dolores Murphy of Owensboro; step-sisters, Holly and Courtney Murphy of Owensboro; and many, many cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.
Services will be 2:00 PM Sunday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, with burial in St. Mary of the Woods Cemetery in Whitesville. Visitation will be 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM Saturday, at Glenn Funeral Home with prayers at 7:00 PM. Visitation Sunday will be after 12:00 PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Owensboro Diocese, for the St. Benedicts Joseph Homeless Shelter, c/o Sr. Suzanne Sims, 512 St. Ann Street, Owensboro, KY 42303.
