Derek Gregory Spring, August 28, 1990 to September 13, 2008 Derek Spring died Saturday, September 13, 2008 despite heroic attempts to save his life from an apparent accidental drug overdose.

Derek, was born in Pinellas County, Florida on August 28th, 1990. He is the beloved son of Greg and Jan (Stevenson) Spring, the adored brother of Daniele Spring, and cherished grandson of Beverly Spring. He previously attended Lakewood Ranch High School and recently became a student of the dedicated educators at the Horizons L.I.F.E. Academy.

No one loved life, fun, and humor more than Derek. He was devoted to his many friends and the memories of their great times together will sustain those of us who love him so much.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that the community join together to fight the devastating affliction of drug abuse plaguing our children. In honor of Derek, please keep yourself safe, help your friends, and cooperate with law enforcement.

A service celebrating the life of Derek will be held Saturday 11:00 AM at Harvest United Methodist Church of Lakewood Ranch. All are invited and casual attire is encouraged.
