Ian Scott Murty, age 20, died unexpectedly at his home in Milwaukee on Sunday, June 10, 2007. Ian was born in Madison on Oct. 22, 1986, to Charlie and Jenny Murty (Gombar). He was heading into his junior year at UW-Milwaukee, majoring in marketing. Since his birth Ian has been a bright and shining star to his family, friends and even those he encountered only briefly. In a testament to the joy that Ian brought to others, he was selected by his Waunakee classmates to be a class speaker for their 2005 high school graduation ceremony. In classic Ian style, he brought resounding laughter to all who attended. Ian's life was filled with joy, music, love, friendship and adventure. From Cozumel to China, Waunakee to Milwaukee, Ian made his own music and laid his own fabric, all with a glorious sparkle in his eyes. Ian is survived by his parents, Charlie, Jenny, Wade and Brenda; his "Little Mama" Lindsay (her partner, Ryan Brockmann) and baby sister, Jaden Ming; his very best friend and loving companion, Annie Statz; truly amazing friends and roommates, Nic Dickson, Pat Dal Santo, Brad Alexander and Dan Berger; aunts, uncles and cousins across the country; and grandparents, Gordy and Mary Lou Johnson, and Frank and Carol Gombar. Our deepest gratitude is extended to Aunt Collette, Nic and Pat for being there. Ian is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Jim and Jeanne Murty; and maternal grandparents, Leland and Darlene Recoy. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 16, 2007, at 11 a.m. at the WINN FUNERAL HOME, 5785 Highway Q, Waunakee. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. "It is with grave sadness that we help Ian make this transition. He loves us all and will be in our hearts for eternity."
