Chad Thomas Dankel, 33, formerly of Nevada, died Sunday, June 24, at his residence in Des Moines.

Chad Thomas Dankel was born Oct. 6, 1973, in Ames, to Becky (Irish) and Jack Dankel. He graduated from Nevada High School in 1992. Following graduation, Chad served in the U.S. Marines. He married Lisa Propp in 1995 and they had two sons. He was employed by ING in Des Moines.

His greatest love in life, besides his two sons, was music. He spent most of his free time composing, playing his guitar and singing.

He is survived by two sons, Alec and Tyler; his mother, Becky Irish, and stepfather, David Jacobson, both of Ames; two brothers, Scott (Lisa) Dankel, of Scranton, and his twin brother, Chris (Dawn) Dankel, of Story City; one half-brother, Justin (Ami) Dankel, of California; and one half-sister, Amy (Steve) Recchia, of Illinois.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Dankel; grandparents, Duncan and Lucile Irish and Lyle and Rhoda Dankel; and one nephew, Steven Hall.

He will be sorely missed by family, friends and especially all his nephews and nieces who loved his childlike antics.
