Benjamin Joseph Goldstein, 19, died unexpectedly Saturday at his home in Asheville. Born June 7, 1986 in Durham, Benjamin graduated from Chapel Hill High School in 2003. He was a sophomore at the University of North Carolina at Asheville where he majored in multi media arts and sciences. An artist and computer programer, Benjaminwas beloved by many people and was a loyal friend.
Surviving are his parents, Harvey A. Goldstein and Meredith Mayer ofChapel Hill; his brother, Adam Goldstein of Portland, Oregon; and his maternal grandmother, Selma Mayer of Chapel Hill.
Graveside funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in Judea Reform Congregation Cemetery on Jones Ferry Road by Rabbi John Friedman.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Orange County Rape Crisis Center, or Physicians Without Borders.
Howerton & Bryan Funeral Home is assisting the Goldstein family.
