Police are not releasing the name of a 16-year-old Rapid City girl whose death has been ruled a suicide.

A walker discovered the girl's body about 10:30 a.m. Sunday on Dinosaur Hill and notified police, according to Capt. Ed Hofkamp. Death was by hanging.

Hofkamp said an investigation ruled there was nothing suspicious about the girl's death.

"It's really viewed as a devastating and a completely sad situation," Hofkamp said. "We give condolences to the family. It's a loss to the family and the community."
