In the town of Perry, people are coping with the news that a stand-out student and athlete died in a car crash Friday night. Police say they believe the other driver involved was drinking before he got behind the wheel. Fifteen year old Teresa Fagen died when the truck she was driving on a learner's permit, was rear-ended on a rural highway. It happened on Highway 141, about two miles west of Perry.

Fagen was a 4.0 student on the basketball and swim teams, she also sang in the choir. The Perry High School holiday concert was supposed to happen Sunday, but it has been postponed, along with other events and activities.

Katybeth Hick, a junior at Perry, says Teresa was a fun girl who always made people laugh. She says Monday will be a tough day back at school. Police say they have filed preliminary charges against the driver who rear-ended Fagen. 35 year old Joseph Long of Perry is being held on $13,000 bond for allegedly trying to elude police, as well as several traffic violations. Police say they're waiting on lab test results that should prove long had been drinking before the crash.

The Perry High School principal says Teresa was the youngest of four girls. He says right now her family is just trying to cope with the shock of losing their daughter. T he principal says there will be grief counselors at the school on Monday.
