    Tales of the Grim Sleeper

"From ignored evidence to shady police tactics, the 30-year case of the Grim Sleeper murders made director Nick Broomfield?s head spin in disbelief. Now he?s brought his latest flick, ?Tales of the Grim Sleeper,? which was acquired by HBO, to the Toronto Film Festival and talks about his journey into L.A.?s crack epidemic, deep-seeded racism, and a legacy of fear-mongering."

    Fantastic documentary!

I like Nick Broomfield's work a lot. Best known for Kurt & Courtney, the Tupac docu & the two docs on Aileen Wournos. He's got a body of work going back to the 1970's which is well worth checking out.

Maidentrip. Not crime related but interesting. About a 14 year old girl who sails around the world by herself.

I was reminded of an amazing series done on the L.A. Coroner's Office today called "North Mission Road". You can find it on YouTube. Fascinating stuff

I won't watch that but I remember seeing a show about elephants in a rescue and they talked about how elephants really do remember everything. An elephant crushed one of the people that worked at the rescue because s/he was wearing a color or scent that reminded the elephant of a circus trainer or whoever.

LOL - what the hell? This isn't your first day at MDS.

Yeah, that one is well known heartbreaker. I actually went in knowing how it would end and still ugh.

I've never seen it, but after reading about it came to the conclusion Shirley is pretty much the female version of Josh Powell.

    You're not

For every obscure case that nobody would think twice about that I know like the back of my hand there's a mainstream case I have no clue about lol.

    I'm a morbid hipster.

I love the Jonestown documentary. I too have a morbid curiosity about Jim Jones. I thought that they were making the story up about the one Black lady surviving because she hid, nope it was true. Jim Jones was a sick fuck.

The Bridge scarred me for life. I am very empathetic to suicide victims because of that docu. There's also one about a forest in China? That a lot of people commit suicide in.

Aokigahara Suicide Forest at the base of Mount Fuji. Yeah, that's one that has intrigued me forever. I tried searching "The Bridge", but it's not on Youtube or Netflix. Where did you get to watch it? I've never seen it but I want to!

I've seen The Bridge-it was released in 2006. It was really good.

I don't have Netflix, but when I had HBO and SHOWTIME they have an on-demand and it has a documentary section.

Madonna of the Mills is touching but when they loaded all of those dogs into that truck I had to stop watching it.

I've seen it a couple of times. I can't remember for sure how I saw it. I want to say YouTube but not sure.
Here are a couple of places to watch it online:
