Three people died in a multiple-vehicle crash Monday afternoon on Interstate 90, 13 miles west of Sioux Falls, said South Dakota Department of Public Safety in a press release.

The names of the persons involved have not been released, pending further investigation and notification of family members.


?Both vehicles were engulfed in fire, destroying identifying features and documents,? the press release states.

Preliminary crash information indicates a 2014 Ram 3500 was traveling westbound on I-90 near mile marker 382. The Ram sideswiped multiple vehicles before crossing into the eastbound lane and crashing head on into an RV.

?Both lanes of traffic on I-90 in the vicinity of the crash scene were temporarily closed down and rerouted to alternate routes,? the release said.

The drivers of both vehicles and the passenger of the RV sustained fatal injuries. South Dakota?s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. According to the press release, all information released so far is only preliminary.

Minnehaha County, S.D.- A Minnesota man and two Alabama residents have been identified as the three people who died Monday afternoon in a multiple-vehicle crash 13 miles west of Sioux Falls, S.D.

Preliminary crash information indicates a 2014 Ram 3500 was traveling westbound on I-90 near mile marker 382. Maybe he wasn't paying attention and side swiped the vehicles. Realized he had hit someone and lost control of the truck trying over correct and BAM! Hit the RV and that was it.

That poor couple. Heading out on a trip in their RV only to have their lives gone in a flash. I just hope that they were knocked out before the flames got to them
