He doesn't seem to mind, but he's 1/2 the dog he used to be... taller, but much slimmer. Had a fall a while back and we canceled his grooming because he was ouchy. Then we had to wait to get in. We might have been able to keep the coat, but getting soaked in the monsoon, ended any hope of keeping the fur.

Her stomach is till hurting her I think, even though they now think it wasn't pancreatitis but something else. She's not really wanting to eat, but for now I'm not going to worry and just give her the stomach meds and give her another day or so to rest before I start worrying.

I'm either going to take her to U of FL or a specialist to have the cruciate repair done.
So happy Sky is doing a bit better. Also happy you are going to go to UF. They are amazing and do such great work.

It is so hard when they start getting older. Bless him.

YES THEY ARE! They did a cruciate repair on my girl Maggie 11 years ago, and also a palate reduction. They are a 2 hour drive each way, but they are amazing!

They worked with Marlow, our Golden Retriever who had cancer. They were so caring and after he passed, they sent us a lovely card telling us that they were donating money in Marlow's memory to a scholarship fund.

I was just super impressed with them. That's so wonderful that they did that! I'm sorry about your baby though.

Aw, thank you. We have had several other babies since who have also unfortunately passed away.

Well, looks like I will be going to the local specialty vet instead of U of FL. The specialty vet can get her in for consultation and (if deemed necessary) surgery the same day, on Aug 30th. U of Fl said they are scheduling orthopedic appointments out 6 months or more. I'm not letting her wait that long. It's brutal watching her hobble through the house.

It's the worst thing about dogs and cats. They leave too soon. I swear in my next life I'm gonna have tortuses.

Too bad about U of Fl. Crazy wait time for some vet hospitals these days. Glad there's a specialist who can see you relatively soon.

Random cat got chased by Angel and now we don't see him anymore. However, before he left, we figured out that it was actually two of them almost identical (related) and they were super awesome. Angel makes it so that we can't have nice things sometimes.

Sky is at a specialty vet being evaluated today, and most likely going into surgery shortly after her appointment this morning. I am a very nervous mom. I?ll take all the good thoughts and positive vibes that you guys could send our way today!

The good vibes must have worked, because the orthopedic surgeon took xrays before the scheduled surgery and she doesn't think her cruciate is torn. She has some swelling and a tiny bit of fluid on her ankles and knee, and we have no idea why. She got an infection in her ankle two years ago and this same place did a joint tap on her. They were not able to get any fluid out today so we are treating her like she has the infection again and giving her two months of high dose antibiotics and they started shockwave therapy on her and she has to keep going for the next 3 weeks.

Yay! That's wonderful to hear! Hopefully this will get cleared up and she can avoid the trauma of surgery.
