I wanted to get her spayed when we adopted her, but they said no. I have read more about it, and apparently if you can wait until 1 yr it helps cut down on orthopedic issues later in life. I pray she doesn't go into heat again before March 5th, that would be my luck! Calming her down would be a bonus, but I am not overly optimistic on that front.
So.... Facebook friends know that we adopted a dog last August. She was presented as a Cardigan Corgi mix at the shelter and she's amazing and awesome and SO smart. We named her Angel. Anyway, we did a DNA test on her and we're cracking up at the results. She has ZERO Corgi in her and we've dubbed her a "Rootle"

I'm not even going to try to understand the logistics of a miniature Poodle and a Rottweiler getting it on, but apparently it happened lol.
I forgot how to upload photos on here. Once I figure it out I'll upload one of her.
I hope this works....

It didn't. I'll have to figure out how to share photos in here. FFS
OMG! I'VE BEEN SAYING THIS! She totally looks like a dwarf and I even joked about her being from the Ukraine and possibly trying to kill us
Could you see her picture? I need to figure out how to upload on here. Once you see her, you'll understand why I think she's an actual dwarf.
I love him so much So adorable! one of the 37% that they couldn't peg on Angel was Chow.
I'm super crazy about trying to figure out if she's a Dwarf now. Her facial features, big butt and whacky little gait is what made me think that in the beginning. She has zero "low rider" breeds in her according to even the 37% they can't determine. It's important to know because they require special care. I'm on the case.

And here's another one. The first one was to show her stature.

I ran across a grooming convention going on while out walking a dog. Check out this adorable little Clydesdale.

Well, like Puzz mentioned, some dogs have been bred to intentionally be dwarves like Corgis, Dauschunds, Bassets etc. In her case, she doesn't have any of those breeds associated with her so she's one of those rarities that pops up from time to time. She's prone to porous bones and dysplasia which I wouldn't doubt will eventually become a problem as she gets older because of her crazy gait. There's no treatments for it, but supplements like CBD oil and Glucosamine will probably help with prevention. They basically say that as long as dogs with it don't appear to have joint pain or trouble breathing that they can lead fairly normal lives. Her lifespan might be shortened a little bit though.
Oh, and prone to weight gain so she'll need plenty of exercise lol.
ETA: What I found interesting is that Miniature Poodles have a higher chance of developing the condition. Which she's supposedly 25% of.
I bought my brat a bodysuit for her surgery, instead of trying to use the cone. People rave about them online, and I know she won't tolerate the cone. I had never heard of this, so I will let you guys know if it was a huge mistake, or the best thing since sliced bread!
The one I bought is navy and white striped, and my husband says it looks like one of those old timey swimsuits. I think it makes her look like a convict!
I’ve never seen a dwarf dog in real life. It’s so interesting you have one! does she have a greater risk for IVDD?
I have not heard of this bodysuit you are speaking of...I will need a pic
Ok I just goggled it and they are adorable.
