For me it started with a terrible stiff neck, followed by 24/7 headache, then body aches with fever, joint pain and finally a rash. My doc wanted to do a spinal tap, which I refused for the time being because I was starting to feel better. It's been about 6wks and the only symptoms left are random headache and stiff neck. I thought I was coming down with the flu the first few days. My doc says a lot of people get it, but have generally mild symptoms and get over it. There's really no treatment for it unless it tries to kill you, then it's only supportive measures.
I've been careful about mosquitoes and keep repellent on the deck. If they are active, I go inside. My property borders a small stream. Hubby gets off at 11pm and we generally sit on the deck and smoke a little. About a week before I started feeling shitty I had one bite the shit out of me. I tried a couple times to brush it off, but it was firmly attached. I ended up squishing it and leaving a bloody streak and hubby was like damn that's a persistent little asshole. With all our flooding here, they have been awful. We still have flooded areas and the Corps of Engineers is still releasing tons of water, keeping us prone to flooding with each rain. They open interstates only to have to close them again when it rains. I feel for the semi's that have to navigate the detours and hope they don't get stuck under low bridges.
I forgot one weird symptom. It hurt to yawn. It hurt deep inside my neck when I would yawn. I was told that was a lymph node in there complaining. Also hurt to move my eyes to look way up or way down.
