The boyfriend of Crystal Rogers, the Bardstown woman who went missing in 2015, was indicted Wednesday on theft charges.

Brooks Houck, 36, faces eight charges of theft by unlawful taking or disposition, according to court records. Four are felony charges for items listed between $500 and $1,000; the remaining charges are misdemeanors.

The theft charges are unrelated to a Kentucky State Police investigation into Rogers' disappearance, KSP spokesman Scotty Sharp said Thursday.

Bardstown Police arrested Houck on Wednesday related to an incident on April 3, according to an arrest citation.

He was released on a $25,000 cash bond and will be arraigned Aug. 2 in Nelson Circuit Court.

Rogers, a mother of five, disappeared in 2015. The case remains unsolved. Last year, KSP hired former troopers to help investigate Rogers' disappearance, as well as other cases including the ambush and murder of Bardstown police officer Jason Ellis.

Rogers' father, Tommy Ballard, was killed while hunting in November 2016.

Rogers’ ex-boyfriend, Brooks Houck, was taken into custody Wednesday, after local, federal and state law enforcement officials were seen going in and out of his home, WDRB in Louisville reported.

Witnesses told WDRB that they saw law enforcement officers leaving Houck’s house with shingles, a computer modem and several evidence bags.

"It was strange," Sammy Johnson told WDRB. "This was supposed to be about shingles. And why do you have the federal agents that are searching? This ain't about shingles, I don't think. I think it's bigger."

I watched the On the Case With Paula Zahn episode the other night. It was good, although I think there were things about her boyfriend's interrogation that they should have gone into detail about more.

There were soooooo many things they left out.

The Oxygen 6 part series is supposed to have some new evidence. Tommy kept very detailed records and this team is the very first to see what Tommy dug up before he was murdered. One article also mentions that a jailhouse letter was sent to Tommy.

So when was she last seen exactly & where? Someone posted a pick of his truck on fb asking if anyone had seen it friday & someone posted they passed it driving at 3.40 pm.

The truck's extremely distinctive (well it would be in Australia anyway) but I don't know if the place & time mean anything.

I don't think the series told us anything we didn't already know.

The Houck brothers are responsible for Crystal and probably Crystal's dad. The bigger question with the brothers- what else are they responsible for around there?
Are they connected to the ambushed style murder of the K9 officer, Jason Ellis? After watching the show, I believe they are.

The mother/daughter murdered, Kathy and Samantha- I don't think so. This seems like a different type of murder. It was brutal and very personal. After digging a little, it seems a lot of people suspect the oldest daughter may know more than she's telling.

Yep. The local topix is full of crazy. I've been reading their threads since the beginning.

The Houcks and Ballard's are literally the modern day Hatfield and McCoys. Both families sling dirt on each other on those topix boards. Houck's sister has rear-ended Crystal's sister's car during a high-speed chase. There have been hangup phone calls and taunting. Houck's family has removed missing signs. Crystal's family likes to drive by the Houck house- then the Houck's come out waving at them (they bring Crystal's son out too)
