HOUSTON -
A robbery suspect is facing more charges after being accused of punching an officer's police dog.
Police said Edward Montgomery and Alex Newson held up an Advanced Auto Shop store on West Mount Houston Road in March.
When officers arrived at the scene, the men took off. Officers were able to arrest Newson, but Montgomery managed to get away and hid in some nearby woods.
When a K9 officer found Montgomery hiding in the bushes, police said he punched the dog in the face.
Montgomery is charged with interference with a police service animal.
