A 28-year-old supermodel, actress and singer from Hong Kong who traveled to Washoe County to attend Burning Man was arrested after Reno police said she crashed her 40-foot rented motor home into a fire hydrant and the Reno Arch and allegedly fled the scene.
Rosemary Vandenbroucke was booked Monday into Washoe County Jail on suspicion of hit and run, no proof of insurance and improper right turn. She was released after posting $1,280 bail.
Authorities said she also had been arrested on ecstasy charges at the event.
Police said Vandenbroucke and a friend had traveled to the area from Hong Kong to attend the Burning Man festival. She had rented a motor home and was returning it to a Reno business Monday afternoon when she lost control of the vehicle while turning right from Commercial Street onto Virginia Street.
The vehicle struck a fire hydrant and the Reno Arch, causing minor damage to the city landmark.
Police said several witnesses called reporting that the motor home was fleeing the scene. An officer caught up with Vandenbroucke on Virginia Street near Liberty Street and arrested her. The motor home was released to the business.
Vandenbroucke could not be reached for comment.
Vandenbroucke has been modeling since she was a teenager for elite agencies and international fashion designers, according to her website. She has released a few hit songs and appeared in movies, mostly in Asia.
