Natalee Holloway, missing since May 30 2005

    http://www.myspace.com/helpfindnatalee
Lots of other missing teens listed on the page :(

Natalee Ann Holloway (born October 21, 1986) disappeared on May 30, 2005, during a high school graduation trip in Aruba, a Caribbean country in the Kingdom of the Netherlands. An American student from Mountain Brook, Alabama, Holloway graduated from Mountain Brook High School on May 24, 2005, shortly before the trip.[3] The disappearance caused a media sensation in the United States.[4]

Holloway was scheduled to fly home later on May 30; however, she failed to appear for her flight.[5] Holloway was last seen by her classmates outside Carlos'n Charlie's, a Caribbean chain restaurant and nightclub in Oranjestad,[6] with locals Joran van der Sloot and brothers Deepak and Satish Kalpoe. When questioned, the three men denied knowing what became of Holloway.[7] Upon further investigation by authorities, Van der Sloot was arrested twice on suspicion of involvement in her disappearance, and the Kalpoes were each arrested three times. However, due to lack of evidence, the three men were released without charge after each arrest.[8][9]

With the help of hundreds of volunteers, Aruban investigators conducted an extensive search for Holloway. Agents from the FBI,[10] fifty Dutch soldiers and three specially equipped Dutch F-16 aircraft participated in the search.[11][12][13] In addition to the ground search, divers examined the ocean floor for evidence of Holloway's body.[14] The searches were unsuccessful, and according to Aruban authorities she is most likely dead.[15][16] On December 18, 2007, Aruban prosecutors announced that the case would be closed without any charges sought against the former suspects.[17][18] The Aruban prosecutor's office reopened the case on February 1, 2008, after receiving video footage of Joran van der Sloot, under the influence of marijuana, making statements that Holloway died on the morning of May 30, 2005, and that her body was disposed of.[19] Van der Sloot has since denied that what he said was true.

Holloway's family has criticized Aruban investigators throughout the search for a perceived lack of progress in finding her. Holloway's family called for a boycott of Aruba, which gained Alabama Governor Bob Riley's support, but failed to gain widespread support.[20][21]

An Article A Piece of the Puzzle?
After writing and thinking about the Natalee Holloway disappearance there has been one thing that has bothered me about the progress of the investigation and the approach. The theory of why Natalee disappeared and how I have outlined in other articles on American Chronicle over time but there is one facet of the theory that was a real puzzle. To explain that part of the investigation required another look at what motive would prevent people from pursuing a person instead of a body. This is what I have come up with.

Suppose after Natalee disappeared, her mother was approached and told , "If you want to ever see your daughter alive again , do not operate under the assumption she is alive." They knew a search for a body would turn up nothing. You notice that most mothers find it very difficult to give up on the life they gave birth to. Only two things could account for that to be accepted fairly soon in the investigation. First of all it could be that Beth just couldn´t stand the thought of Natalee not at peace in some form. On the other hand if she were told that any encouragement of looking for Natalee as a captive would result in Natalee´s death that could be motivation also.

These Van der Sloot guy was arrested 5 years later on the same day (May 30) for killing another girl e Per?... he also extorsioned Beth Holloway (Natalee's mother) in order to tell her where Natalee's body was... what a creep!!!

Natalee Holloway legally declared dead in 2012.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) – The parents of Natalee Holloway looked on somberly as a judge on Thursday declared their child dead, more than six years after the American teenager vanished during a high school graduation trip to the Caribbean island of Aruba.

"We've been dealing with her death for the last six and a half years," Dave Holloway said after a brief hearing. He said the judge's order closes one chapter in a long ordeal, but added: "We've still got a long way to go to get justice.
Natalee Holloway disappeared in Aruba on May 30, 2005. The 18-year-old was last seen leaving a bar early that morning with a young Dutchman, Joran van der Sloot. Her body was never found and the ensuing searches for the young woman would reap intense media scrutiny and worldwide attention.
STORY: Van der Sloot pleads guilty to Peru murder
Thursday's hearing was scheduled long before van der Sloot — a suspect questioned in Holloway's disappearance — pleaded guilty Wednesday in Peru to the 2010 murder of a woman he met at a casino in Lima. Stephany Flores, 21, was killed five years to the day after Holloway, an 18-year-old from the wealthy Birmingham suburb of Mountain Brook, disappeared.
Shortly after Flores' death on May 30, 2010, van der Sloot told police he killed the woman in Peru in a fit of rage after she discovered on his laptop his connection to the disappearance of Holloway. Police forensic experts disputed the claim.
Dave Holloway told the judge in September he believed his daughter had died and he wanted to stop payments on her medical insurance and use her $2,000 college fund to help her younger brother.
The teen's mother originally objected, but her lawyer, Charlie DeBardeleben, said she subsequently changed her mind once she understood her husband's intentions.
Natalee Holloway's parents were divorced in 1993 and Beth Holloway sat in the back row of the courtroom, mostly staring at her hands in her lap through the hearing Thursday afternoon in a probate court in Birmingham.
Although Beth Holloway declined to speak to journalists, her attorney signaled it was a difficult moment for her to witness a judge signing the order declaring her daughter dead.
"She's ready to move on from this," DeBardeleben added.
Mark White, an attorney for Dave Holloway, told the judge just before he announced his decision, that there was no evidence that Holloway was alive.
"Despite all that no evidence has been found Natalee Holloway is alive," he told the judge, noting that exhaustive searches, blanket international media coverage and even the offer of rewards had turned up nothing new.
King had ruled in September that Dave Holloway had met the legal presumption of death for his daughter and it was up to someone to prove she didn't die on a high school graduation trip. He had set the hearing after a period of several months in the event anyone might come forward with new information.
However, investigators have long worked from the assumption that the young woman was dead in Aruba, where the case was officially classified as a homicide investigation.
That investigation remains open, though there has been no recent activity, said Solicitor General Taco Stein, an official with the prosecutor's office on the Dutch Caribbean island.
"The team that was acting in that investigation still is functioning as a team and they get together whenever there is information or things are needed in the case or a new tip arrives," Stein said in a phone interview Thursday.
Dave Holloway said he hopes the 24-year-old van der Sloot, who is awaiting sentencing in Lima, gets a 30-year prison term sought by Peruvian prosecutors.
"Everybody knows his personality. I believe he is beyond rehabilitation," Holloway said.
Attorneys said both parents also expressed hope that van der Sloot's next stop is Birmingham, where he faces federal charges accusing him of extorting $25,000 from Beth Holloway to reveal the location of her daughter's body.
Prosecutors said the money was paid, but nothing was disclosed about the missing woman's whereabouts.
"I expect to see him in Birmingham," Dave Holloway said Thursday.

ARUBA ? It has been almost ten years since Natalee Holloway disappeared while on a high school graduation trip to Aruba ? and now a new alleged witness has come forward with new details about the night Holloway disappeared.

?I saw Natalee Holloway on the last night she was alive. I was the eyewitness,? Jurrien de Jong told Inside Edition.

De Jong claims he witnessed Joran van der Sloot, the primary witness in the case, carrying Holloway?s body the night she was last seen.

?I saw that Joran was chasing Natalee into a small building under construction,? De Jon said. ?In about five minutes, he came out with Natalee in his arms and slammed the body of Natalee on the floor? and then he made an opening in a crawl space? I knew she was dead.?

The witness said he didn?t come forward sooner because he was involved in illegal activities at the time. According to Inside Edition, the prosecutor in Aruba is going to take a look into De Jong?s claims.

Meanwhile, Natalee?s father, Dave Holloway, has returned to Aruba to follow up on new clues. His daughter was 18 when she vanished on May 30, 2005.

Joran van der Sloot maintains his innocence in connection with Holloway?s disappearance.

I hope this is the break that gives the family closure. There have been a lot of made up stories regarding Natalie's disappearance, and her parents looked into every one.

I was in Aruba in the summer of 2005 when Natalie was first missing. Her picture was everywhere. I remember thinking the island was so small, I was surprised they didn't find her yet.

I hardly ever post anything, I hope I am doing this correctly.
It appears Natalee Holloway's body may have been found.
Apparently an informant (a friend of a friend of Joran Van der Sloot) led an investigator, Natalee's father to a house in Aruba. Behind the house, they started digging and discovered remains. They were shocked to learn that the remains tested positive as human, and now they are being DNA tested to determine if they belong to Natalee.
I hope it's her because her family and loved ones need closure, and I believe Joran should be left in prison to rot.

I was reading about this earlier. That's insane. It has to be her. They'll finally be able to put her to rest.

That would certainly be fascinating if it's tested and found to be her.

I watched the show on oxygen today and supposedly her body was in a burlap sack that was buried...then this friend of Joran dug it up, they burned it, and spread her ashes in the low tide...I guess if that's they case, then technically they couldn't have found remains because there would be no remains to find..they would only have DNA if the burlap sack were recovered or if they retrieved DNA from the vehicle her body was transported in...

I am also with y'all, I really hope this isn't some kinda ploy to get people to watch the show

I saw the new show (didn't watch it bc I don't have oxygen) but thought it was really weird timing.

There are news stories saying Joran van der Sloot was severely beaten in prison; however, I found this on CNN. What a little wussy.

Van der Sloot was involved in a fight inside his prison ward during visiting hours on Saturday and suffered a cut to his fingers and some bruising, Altez said. He was placed in the prison’s medical section, Altez said.

“It wasn’t a direct assault against him, it was a fight among some inmates and my client got involved when he tried to defend his friend, who was injured on the leg. As a consequence (Joran) got injured in his hand,” Altez told CNN en Espa?ol.

The attorney had earlier said his client had been “severely” beaten, ABC News reported.

I'll bet Joran Vander Sloot got picked on a lot when he was a kid for having the most obnoxious jackoff name.
