I didn't know you guys had Aldi! I love their cooked meat and cheese selection.

Really?  I didn't know they had a section for that.  I'll have to look.

Aldi rules. Except when you forget that they don't have anything to bag your groceries in.

I always forget, so I end up buying bags from them.  Then I end up using said bags to throw out what I've scooped from the litter box so I have to keep buying them.

They do in England. So do Lidl, which is pretty much the same thing.

[s]I[/s]My OH uses the carrier bags for picking up dog shit in the garden, they come in handy. I try to recycle, help save the world and all that malarkey.

    nomnomnom

Another thing that is currently making me deliriously happy is that in order to clean up my toxic wasteland of a yard they might demolish my garage and then build a new one after they are done cleaning up under it.

I just discovered them today. My daughter got in the car after work with a bag of them and after I tried one I had to go back to the store and get a bag.

The Kettle ones have no trans fats, preservatives or artificial flavorings. Yummy and good for you, too! Or at least not so bad for you.

TUCSON- — A University of Arizona student fatally shot two men who forced their way into his off-campus home early Thursday, Tucson police said.

The 23-year-old student was in the small backyard guest house where he lived several blocks north of the university about 12:30 a.m. when two men in their 20s came to the door and forced their way in, police spokesman Sgt. Fabian Pacheco said. The student armed himself with a handgun and shot them both, then called police.

The men were dead when police arrived.

The student didn't know the suspects and there is no indication he was involved in any criminal activity that could have made him a target for the suspects, Pacheco said.

“It could be that they went to the wrong residence — or they went to the right residence but were looking for someone who lived there before,” Pacheco said. “The victim has only lived there for a few months.”

The student is cooperating with detectives, who are making sure his statements match up with evidence at the scene, Pacheco said. But there's nothing to indicate he did anything wrong.

“All indications are that this is a home invasion,” Pacheco said. “These individuals forced their way into his home, and he is a gun owner, felt his life was in danger and fired at these suspects.”

One of the dead men has been tentatively identified, but police haven't released the identities of either the suspects or the student.

Thankfully he didn't live in a "gun free" campus zone.

Having a crappy day, running errands in the hellish son. Then having my Mom order a bunch of stuff off my amazon wish list because I wasn't feeling well and she wanted to make me smile.  :-)

Score one for the good guys.  No... two.  Score two.

ETA:  There is little doubt in my mind the student would have been an article on this forum were it not for the equalizer.  Personally, this is a far happier ending in my opinion.  Wonder if the shooter had a myspace?  I wonder if any of them did for that matter?

When without being asked to do so, my husband goes into the darkest corners of the potting shed, retrieves my leopard-skin wellies and dusts away the cobwebs - inside and out!

He knows spiders and cobwebs freak me out and I guess this is easier than dealing with a hysterical woman.  So I suppose it benefits us both in a way.

Re: Dumb things that make you happy.

Spending three hours this afternoon with a 95 year old woman who lives alone.  All of her family members flew to Isreal for a wedding.  I'm not supposed to see clients outside of a work related reason but the family asked me to visit her to make sure she is okay.
It was amazing.  She lives on the second floor of a three decker.  Her and her husband had the home built 64 years ago.  It has the original everything.  Her stove and refrigerator are 40 something years old.  I felt like I was in a different place in time.  In all the years she has owned the house she has only had 3 tenants.  One for 26 years on the first floor and the current woman has been there for 18 years.  The 3rd floor she has not rented becasue she wants to have it open in case she ever needs help.  She would like the person to move in and have their own space.
Her mental status is 100% but she is frail and unsteady.  95......wow.
I can't wait to visit with her again.

I love speaking to older people about the past.  I used to speak to my great grandfather when i was about 11 or so about what puerto rico was like when he was little.  He was born in 1898 and just the fact that he was born in the 1800's used to tickle me.  He told me about the first time he saw a car and how he was so amazed, and the biggest thing to him was how people are so dependant on supermarkets and cant fend for themselves.
He lived to be 100, and im convinced he would have lasted longer if my grandmom, his daughter, didnt pass away.

Amazing isn't it?  I recently had a client die and her husband died 2 months ago.  They were married for 81 years!!!

The woman's house I was in today was so spectacular because it was spotless.  It was seriously museum quality.  Not because it was fancy but the condition of the walls, the floors and the bathroom were like someone built it and no one ever lived there.

you should somehow get pictures. i love that stuff.  my great grandfather was really really poor and the house they had in puerto rico was pretty run down by the time i came along.  I was there once when I was about 5, maybe even 4 - but I remember because I had to use an outhouse to go to the bathroom.  It traumatized me, I was so scared.
They didnt have electricity throughout the house either and I kept asking where the lights were.  I had to sleep in a hammock with my mom under a mosquito net (i had to look up what to call that in english hahaha & its so simple) on the front porch.

Anyway, my grandmother moved him to NYC to live with her that year.  He didnt want to, but he's was getting to where he couldnt get around anymore.  He would get so mad if my grandmom didnt get him his spanish newpaper.
