Is that the same as a cafetiere? I have one of those and a stove top percolator. I want an electric one where I put the cup under, press a button and it gives me coffee. I'm lazy.

Yea, I just had to google coffee press I love my cafetiere, but the housemate has a timed coffee magic thing that he sets to start just before he gets out of bed. Makes the house smell amazing. Jealous!

This is relevant to my interests! I love love love fresh coffee. I've been looking and I've seen a few that aren't too expensive. I want one like in the coffee shops but on a smaller cheaper scale. I'm sure someone here has one or was looking into getting one, although I could be making that up.

We got a Keurig. I don't know if that's fancy enough for experienced coffee drinkers though. I like it because there's like, no clean up at all. Plus you can make cafe mochas or apple ciders or iced tea with it too.

I was bought a Kuerig but haven't used it yet. I like the idea that you can make yourself a cup of tea and then make someone else a cup of coffee without wasting too much time or dirtying a teapot and a cofeepot.

My mom bought us Keurig for our wedding thinking that it was the most thoughtful gift ever. And it was, except that the husband won't drink coffee or tea. Yay for me though!

I have seen the future and I'm fairly relieved to say, it looks nothing like me.

I love LOVE my Keurig!!! And, if you factor in wasted coffee (drinking just 1 cup from a pot)-- the coffee prices aren't that bad. Plus there are generic coffee-thingies that can save even more money!

The downside-- I drink A LOT more coffee now since it is so easy!

    WANT: baubles with neat details

Ring with cut-out area to stow to-do list/treasure map/love letter, etc.

Ring engraved with your secret (up to 40 characters) on the inside:

Ring with raised inside detail that leaves an impression on your skin:

Okay, I do not understand why anyone would want that last thing. "Hey, check out this creepy thing that looks like a rash on me! YEAH I SPECIAL ORDERED IT TO DO THAT.'

Looks like she slept on a sheet crease.

How does a French press work? I've been hearing a lot about them. Is it more for people who enjoy coffee vs "use" coffee?

A French press is where you fill the bottom with course grinds (best to use a dark brew) and then add boiling water, pressing down on a mechanism that essentially compacts all the coffee and makes a delicious brew. It's for people who enjoy coffee, for sure, although the process is really no more complex and possibly less time consuming than a coffee maker. But the flavor is a thousand times truer and less watered down. Is great with espresso blends.

Thanks. What a great explanation. I think I'm going to get one.

I recommend you do. I have the Bodum one bowie posted upthread. You boil water, fill the press, wait four minutes, then press. SO good. I bought 3 different people one for Christmas this year.

i love my press, but sometimes i wonder about the quality because i cannot brew espresso in mine. its too fine and the press gets stuck. but its all metal and not glass/plastic and i've never seen another one like it.

You just need to get espresso ground course. That's not the fault of your machine, it's because espresso is normally ground at a very, very fine setting. When you go into a place that sells beans, buy espresso but have it ground for a french press.

The setting, I think, is 8.

Sort of want to buy a Chevy P10 Step Van, Jeep FJ3 or FJ6 and sell Kettle Corn or some other food product. Fairly random for me, but for some reason it sounds like fun. Not sure if there is money to be made in such an endeavor however.
