What a dope: cash-strapped Kiwi barters cannabis

A New Zealand man is paying the price for making a service station attendant an unusual offer.

Wade Churchward, 28, entered the Wellington service station on March 22 and picked up two packets of M&Ms and a packet of chips.

Churchward, who had been drinking, couldn't wait until he reached the counter to pay for the goods, and began snacking on them while in the queue.

But once at the head of the queue he realised he did not have enough cash for the goods, the Dominion Post newspaper reports.

In lieu of payment he offered the attendant a tin containing 12 milligrams of cannabis and his pipe.

But he never found out whether the offer would have been accepted.

Standing behind him in the queue was a police officer, whose colleague was outside filling up their patrol car.

Churchward pleaded guilty in court on Monday to possessing cannabis and other unrelated charges.

He will be sentenced on July 3.

Hey that happened to my boyfriend.
He works at a liquor store, and some guy was five dollars short, so he just gave him a chunk of marijuana instead!
That being said, I love living in British Columbia.
