I get that people are into zombies and people killing zombies but I mean I would think they'd be looking for any alternative that isn't just so poorly executed and then like, takes itself so, so seriously.
Also maybe it's just me but I HATE when shows seem to create a world that exists outside of popular culture, like in the walking dead you have to accept the premise that they existed previously in a world where the concept of zombies was never introduced.
The kid watches it but I have never sat down and watched a single episode. I keep being told I just gotta watch. I just isn't on my radar. Zombies not really my bag.

Oh yeah, I totally get the following on zombies, but that show is just the biggest borefest of all time. I have no idea how it has such a following. I'd have guessed everyone would have given up on it by now.
And yeah, I think that point is another reason for my annoyance with the show. What's the point of changing popular culture and making zombies some "foreign" idea?
I'm not a writer or familiar with the writing world, but I imagine they just made their lives incredibly much harder than they needed to. Like, you better have a GREAT writing team and strong plan for what you're making with your "alternate world", because otherwise it's going to turn into a confusing/boring quest to nothing because no one knows what to do now.
Yeah, what I like about Z nation is that it takes place three years after the zombie apocalypse, they call them zombies, they reference old zombie horror movies, and they have a specific quest that takes them on side adventures, largely demonstrating how after the initial assault, people began to reconstitute societies in the form of small cults. And they see the humor in the situation.
It's like the Stand with zombies.
Also cannot say enough good things about a totally different show, Halt and Catch Fire. The new season is coming up and I really recommend it.
i like the walking dead because it is for the most part realistic. it puts me in the place and makes me think of what i'd do to survive. also, it's like a slow burn with characters. they develop the characters pretty fully and you are upset when they are killed off. so far, i know very little about the characters on z nation except for that most of them annoy the fuck out of me with their uncomfortably presented one liners and already, the guy from lost was killed and all the bad guys were killed.
unrealistic: an infant confined to his car seat can suddenly move super speed once he turns and is clever enough to hide from the army guy with a gun. being a zombie, you instinctively lumber toward the meat and attack. you don't hide and you don't run. especially if you are a dumb baby to begin with.
unrealistic: a zombie dog sneaks in and, like the baby, manages to hide behind crates in the darkness to avoid being shot. again, a zombie dog would just go for the jugular. i mean being a zombie can't be too different than being rabid for a dog.
i appreciate that these things are in the show and it's funny and i like it, but as far as serious goes, the walking dead is miles beyond this. z nation is very stereotypical syfy channel, and not even syfy series, but more like syfy movies.
btw, i love syfy movies.
also... i love that little guy, citizen z. i love him in everything he does.
I mean, zombies aren't realistic. And the Z Nation cast, Lost guy aside, remains all of those people for the rest of the season. And unlike Walking Dead, I'm not hoping 90% of them will die so I don't have to watch their terrible acting and annoying characters by the end of the season.
I watched the first episode of Z Nation last night. I hated the stupid zombie baby and I was so pleased that the Lost guy died because I couldn't stand him in Lost and I liked him even less in this. I enjoyed the show though.
okokok. zombie bears and sister wives.
if the world includes zombie bears and zombie huskies, why isn't everyone being attacked constantly by zombie puppies and kittens. i hope in the next season, when they say 'here comes some puppies and kittens' the actual puppies and kittens show up. i mean, in a world where zombie animals happen, wouldn't there be more zombie animals than zombie people?
but but but... meth zombies.
ok, you got me on the humor thing. it is pretty funny to watch. luckily, i don't have a terrible time enjoying inconsistencies in the rules of zombieness. in this show, zombies just do pretty much the same thing people do while going rawr rawr. even viagra zombies.
yeah, 10 k is a cutie. you perv!

Ed Helms and Bear Grylls are staying at my daughter's hotel filming for Bear's show. She's desperate for them to call in for room service.
Shit, I forgot about Nation Z until now. I was catching up on Ray Donovan.
The things you don't like about The Walking Dead are the things I like (oddly enough).
I like that there aren't zombies every 5 minutes, I like zombies not being a part of their world, and I LOVE the characters, and the story, and the.... the everything!
I mean, there's a show just to talk about what happened on The Walking Dead, so if you guys really hate it (WTF) you must really not understand why it gets everyone so hyped. It's fucking HUGE.
God, it's such a garbage show with such lame, bad writing. I had high hopes with the series premiere, which I thought was excellent, but the rest of that season was so bad, and every episode I have it's like:
Character A: In this episode, I am going to randomly establish that I have sister problems
flashback
Character B: You and I have never really interacted until this episode but now I am going to exposition that I have felt you are like a brother to me!
Character A: I also, see you, as a sister.
Character B: We are now getting so close!
*flashback*
Character B: Let us make plans for the future!
Zombie kills character B
Character A: NOOOO MY NEW SISSSSSSTER
Daryl shoot something with a bow and arrow
women get lady boners
THE END
