ONA -- Cabell Midland High School student Gerarlene Nicole Shepard is still missing, and family and friends held a candlelight vigil for her Saturday night.
Authorities are looking for a person of interest in the case.
The Cabell County Sheriff's Office has reported that Shepard was last seen by family members the morning of Wednesday, April 23, but she did not go to school as originally thought. Cabell County Schools Director or Communications Jedd Flowers said after a review of school surveillance video and follow-up interviews with administrators and the bus driver, it was determined she was not there.
The 16-year-old's parents both told the Cabell County Sheriff's Office that there was no indication there was a problem nor was there an argument preceeding the disappearance.
Chafin said deputies are looking for 33-year-old Mark Anthony Marcum for questioning. He said Marcum may be in Williamson, W.Va., or Pike County, Ky., and driving a red, late 90s or early 2000 model Dodge Dakota Sport or a blue, banged-up 1980s model Chevrolet Camaro.
Shepard is described as a white female, 5-feet, 4-inches, 260 pounds with blonde hair and brown eyes.
Anyone with information should call the Cabell County Sheriff at (304) 526-8657 or 911.
