Conway boyfriend gets hit with murder charge
By Tonya Root - troot@thesunnews.com
CONWAY -- An Horry County grand jury indicted a Conway man in the death of his teen girlfriend who was killed after she was struck by a car in April, according to the indictment.
Christopher Lee Skeens, 23, was indicted on a charge of murder in the death of 19-year-old Erica Nordman, who died April 9 after she was struck by a vehicle on Craig Street, which is located northwest of Conway.
Skeens, who was Nordman's live-in boyfriend, is free on bond pending his trial. The couple had dated for about three years, according to her family.

After her death, Nordman's family said her death was accidental after Skeens argued with another man at the scene.
Police say an argument between Skeens and Casey Dennis Ray Earl, 25, of Conway, occurred minutes before Nordman's death.
Earl is charged with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature. Police said he struck Skeens repeatedly in the face during a fight, causing Skeens to suffer a broken jaw that required surgery to repair.
Skeens was driving a Ford Explorer SUV when he hit Earl's vehicle, then backed up to try to strike Earl with the vehicle, police said.
Skeens hit Nordman and she went under the car, according to an arrest warrant.
Nordman died at the scene. An autopsy showed she suffered massive head trauma, Horry County Deputy Coroner Chris Burroughs said.
