Re: Prayer and Prayer Request Thread

guys i need prayers. most of you know my dad has cancer, and even though its been stage four for two years, he was always pretty much able to function on his own, going to work, driving, blah blah. well last week he went in for a new chemo treatment, and everything was fine for about 3 days. on Wednesday he slept most of the day, and i didn't want to bother him by waking him up because he can get pretty mean, so i let him sleep. well when he woke up, he got out of bed and i hear this loud crash, so i run upstairs and he had fallen into my sisters bath tub. cut himself up really bad, blood everywhere. its now Monday and he still cant walk, he refuses to use a wheelchair but i finally got him to try a walker.

his sleep patterns are so random which means mine are too, because i have to stay up with him or else he will try to get up and end up falling again. i can not keep him in his fucking bed. another thing i cant get him to do is take the right amount of painkillers because he sneaks behind my back and triples his dosage of morphine. hes so out of it that he doesn't know what hes doing, but he throws a fit and ends up hurting himself if i don't give him more.

to top off my stress, my husband decides that now would be a good time for him to do a show out of town
so i guess im just going to have to cross my fingers that when i have to leave the house to take my sister to school and back, my dad doesn't fall and kill himself.

    i need strength.  :|

Thank you. He's awake now but still in ICU, thankfully due to modern medicine and all the mojo and vibes sent into the universe

I will be praying for you today, and for your whole family.  You definitely need strength, and support from others around you.  I understand that what you are going through is very stressful, and very wearing on your emotions.  There's a scripture that says, "Cast all your cares (anxieties, worries, stress, emotional and physical burdens) upon Him, for He cares about you.  Lots of love coming your way today, my dear, truly.

    Can't hurt.

My sister is about seven months pregnant. She fell on her butt two days ago after slipping on an icy patch. She's been having dull cramps since, and left for the emergency room about an hour ago. As some of you know, she is a cancer patient, and this pregnancy has all of use anxious for her. She wants so badly to be a mommy, and this may be her only chance.

A good friend of mine took her 8 year old kitty to ICU last night. She has fluid in her lungs and a mass on one of them. The radiologist will have results and a prognosis today.

Stressful day, I'm anxiously awaiting phone calls, and would appreciate some positive thoughts, though my problems seem petty next to many of those who have already posted.

    Look Straight Ahead

    Today's Scripture

“Let your eyes look straight ahead, fix your gaze directly before you” (Proverbs 4:25).

What are you looking at today? I don’t mean in the natural, but in the spiritual. What is in the forefront of your mind and heart? Are you constantly dwelling on your problems or things that have happened in your past? In the natural, you will move in the direction that your eyes are looking. In the spiritual, it works the same way. Whatever you focus your mind and heart on, you will move toward. That’s why this verse tells us to look straight ahead. If you are constantly dwelling on your problems or things in your past, wondering “what if”, then you will stay right where you are. But if you choose to forgive and release the past, then you can focus on what is ahead of you, and you’ll begin to move forward. God doesn’t want you to live in the past. He wants you to meditate on His goodness and believe His promises so that you can keep growing. God is a creative God, and He has designed a wonderful future for you. Look straight ahead so you can see it and move forward into the life of victory God has promised!

    A Prayer for Today

Heavenly Father, today I set my focus on You. I choose to forget the past by forgiving others so that I can look straight ahead to Your promises. I ask that You direct my heart on the path of life that You have for me. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

    Hi, Fleta:

Just wondering how things went yesterday with your sister/her baby, and your friend's kitty.  And please, don't ever think your problems are petty compared to anyone else's ... some of our needs may differ in type, severity, etc., but a need is a need, a problem is a problem ... we care, we pray, my dear ... Let us know how things turned out, OK?

    Receive Grace

    Today's Scripture

“It is through Him that we have received grace (God’s unmerited favor) and [our] apostleship to promote obedience to the faith and make disciples for His name’s sake among all the nations” (Romans 1:5 AMP).

    Today's Word
Do you want to see more of God’s favor in your life? Receive His grace. Grace is God’s favor, but it’s also His supernatural empowerment. When you have God’s grace and favor, it enables you to accomplish more and to be more effective both in your own life and in building the kingdom of God. This verse says that God’s grace enables us to promote obedience to the faith and make disciples among all nations. Maybe you can’t go to all nations today, but you can make a difference in the lives of the people around you. You can “promote faith” by living a life of love. God wants to empower you with His Grace so that you can show love and encourage the people in your life—your coworkers, your family, your friends. Receive His grace today by simply opening your heart and thanking Him for it. Thank Him for His grace that empowers you. Thank Him for a gift of faith in your life, which works by love. As you receive His Grace today, you will feel His empowerment and walk forward in the favor and blessing He has in store for you!

    A Prayer for Today
Heavenly Father, I thank You for Your promise of grace in my life. Thank You for unmerited favor and empowering me through Your Word. I receive Your grace right now and invite Your love to flow through me today. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

My sister and the baby are fine. Her cramps were due to dehydration and low potassium. She got to hear the heartbeat for the first time as well.

Sadly, Miss Lucy didn't make it. Her prognosis was very bad, and my friend very bravely chose euthanasia. She's taking it very hard, but I'm proud of her for putting Lucy's well-being before herself.

Thank you for asking, and for the words of encouragement.

Very glad to hear that your sister and the baby are ok, sorry about the kitty. It's always cool when those of you who submit prayer request let us know how things turned out. Thanks for letting us know Fleta.

There is a family and a baby that needs our prayers. In fact, there are hundreds of families that need our prayers right now, as they sort through the disaster of the tornado outbreak. Please join me in a prayer for them. here's a link to an amazing story of survival and tragedy....

Here is a pic of the miracle baby that survived and the mom, may she rest in peace in God's arms. This is truly heartbreaking.

PCP777, you are so much appreciated for this post, and for the link.  These families definitely all need prayer. A prayer request thread is a wonderful thing, and thank you for starting it.

    Pursue Your Strengths

    Today's Scripture

“Do not neglect your gift…” (I Timothy 4:14).

    Today's Word
God has equipped each one of us with specific gifts and talents. It’s up to you to not only to identify those gifts, but to be disciplined to develop those gifts. You have to learn to stay in your strength zone. What are you naturally good at? What do you enjoy doing? Take the time to identify your strengths and weaknesses and as the scripture says, give yourself to your gifts. In other words, don’t spend all your time trying to improve your weaknesses. Don’t waste valuable days pursuing things that are outside your main gifting. Focus on your strengths. There is something that you’re good at naturally—something you can do that comes easy to you. Step out into your area of gifting. Are you good with people? Are you good with your hands? Do you have a great voice? Find ways to develop those gifts. Know that your gifts and talents are a part of your divine destiny. If you’ll be comfortable with who God made you to be, and thank Him for your unique gifting, you’ll not only enjoy your life more, but you’ll be ready to receive the abundant blessing God has in store for you!

    A Prayer for Today
Heavenly Father, thank You for equipping me with everything I need to be successful in this life. I ask that You show me how to develop the gifts within me for Your glory. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Re: Prayer and Prayer Request Thread

    Hi Guys,

I am in need of a prayer or 10. Last year on this day I was signing up for MDS. As I was doing this, one of my best friends brothers commited suicide. Ever since his brothers death he has been in bad shape. He has been drinking like a fish and doesn't care about anything. His parents spoil him now because they are scared of losing another child. He doesn't pay his bills, he lost his job. He has a new job now but has missed days because he drank too much the night before. He now has a baby on the way. When he drinks, he tells people that he just wants to die. He has also told co workers that he didn't think he would be around in 2008 and that is why he spent all of his money. Today is the one year aniversary and he took off work so he can drink all day. I am hoping and praying that he doesn't hurt himself. The worst part about all of this is he is my boyfriends best friend, and my best friends babys father. I have not been able to talk to him about anything that has been going on because he spends all of his time with my boyfriend or my best friend. I just want to spend 2 hours with him and try to talk to him. I know he has a lot of respect for me and my thoughts. I feel like I NEED to do this. I don't know how or when i can though. No one gives me the time! :(

Please pray that he makes it through this day and that he gets the help he needs to make it through this life.

He's in our prayers. You guys might consider some kind of intervention here as well.

BTW, it's hard to pray without a first name everyone...
Please pray that he makes it through this day and that he gets the help he needs to make it through this life.

Re: Prayer and Prayer Request Thread

I haven't been around much, life has been chaotic. I have lots of prayers to catch up on, and will set aside some time tonight when I get home to really read all of the requests and let them sink in.

I need prayers, too. Josh and I have been fighting very badly recently. It has not escalated to a physical degree, but it has gotten very ugly. I can no longer tolerate the stress, as I am working full time, raising Joe and 7 months pregnant. I asked Josh to leave last night, and I now am wondering if I have done the right thing or not. Please pray that Joe, the baby and I do okay, and that I find the guidance to give me the answers I need with regards to the relationship Josh and I may or may not have.

    Thanks, all.
With all this talk of thinking outside the box, I am beginning to wonder what's left inside the box. -Me

You guys are in my prayers. Pregnancy can be quite a strain on any relationship. Hope you guys can get through it and work things out.

Re: Prayer and Prayer Request Thread

I just wanted to ask for whomever is willing to pray for my brother in the next week. He lives in America with his wife and she is due to have a c-section on Friday (the 15th). She had a super complicated pregnancy with my first nephew, she had ovarian cancer with chemo while she was pregnant..the whole nine. Anyway, I just wanted to pray that they get through this week and through the surgery without any complications. They deserve to have that new baby girl with the least problems as possible. Thanks in advance for anyone who keeps my family in their thoughts throughout this next week.

I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for someone I am not.

Re: Prayer and Prayer Request Thread

Good morning, today we have a real good one for ya!

    Light Will Come

    Today's Scripture

“Light arises in the darkness for the upright…” (Psalm 112:4).

Is there any area of your life that needs light today? Maybe you’re in a seemingly dark situation, or maybe you need some insight into a decision you have to make. Maybe you need the light of understanding into a particular situation. Whatever is going on in your life right now, God’s Word promises that light will arise. He promises to illuminate every area of your life. The Bible tells us in the book of Psalms that God’s Word is a lamp to your feet and light to your path. You can turn the light on, so to speak, by studying and meditating on the Word of God. Ask the Holy Spirit to speak to your heart and shine the truth of God’s Word throughout your being. As you meditate on the Word of God, you will see that light arise in your life. Your path will be clear, and you will move forward into the abundant life the Lord has in store for you!

    A Prayer for Today
Heavenly Father, I ask that Your light shine brightly in my life today. Help me, Holy Spirit, to walk in the light so that I can be pleasing to the Lord in every way. Thank You for Your faithfulness to me. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
