Fire investigators say?they believe a propane tank "contributed" to the fire and explosion at an Everett bikini barista stand Thursday night, but they have not determined the exact cause.
Investigators are hoping to interview the barista who survived the blast, but right now everyone is simply hoping 25-year-old Courtney Campbell survives.
"There's no words," said Ben Scott, who calls Campbell his best friend.
Scott says she is the kind of person who never asks for anything, but always looks out for others.
"My roommate and I were short on food one day," he said. "I just mentioned it in passing, and she took me to the grocery store. She never asked to be paid back."
Campbell's bikini barista stand, "Sinners and Saints,"exploded in flames near the Everett Mall on Thursday.
Initial reports said Campbell was able to walk to a medic's gurney, but on Friday friends said her situation was much more dire. Her boyfriend said she has burns over 80% of her body and is in a medically induced coma.
"I want to be able to wave a magic wand, make the burns go away, roll back the clock and get her out of the stand before the fire starts," said Scott. "I can't do that, unfortunately."
Campbell bought the business a few months ago, according to Scott, and planned to open another. She has two little girls.
"She loves her children. She's always worked very hard for them. She's a great person," he said.
Friends are holding?a fundraiser for Campbell on Jan. 16, at Tony V's Garage in Everett.
