"Yes I would, but all that you would have to do is send a CIVIL letter to the admin, and then that person's entry would be removed. Now that isn't "cashing in on death" is it?"

Erm yes it would .

If i had amature porn on a website and sold amature porn merch then someone asked me to remove theres i would still be cashing in on amature porn.

It's the premise that is the aporent part.

Can you explain to me how this would be cashing in on death? All that I am trying to tell you is that there is really only one thing that we all have in common and that is death. Is it so bad that we like to look at it froma different perspective than you?? The admins have to support this site somehow, and they are doing that by advertising. How else do you suggest that they support it?? I can tell you that this is no were near myspace in terms of reveue, the admins work a regular 9-5 job, don't live in some 5000 sf house, and probably don't drive $100K cars, so what if they are supporting a site with advertisement?

I think they're trolling our forum because this article was released today in the London METRO: http://mydeathspace.com/smf/index.php?topic=1682.0

You better believe I'm keeping my eye on these two guys just in case they die.

I wasn't even going to open an account here, but I just had to to ask the original poster this:

How dare you judge a site that might be the only way some people learn of their friends deaths? What makes you think you have the right to critisise a site which gives people a reasonable outlet. Have you ever known someone vaugly and just kept in contact through myspace or the ocassional email? I bet you have. If they died then you could find out here, and pay your respects without upsetting the family by barging in. When one of my friends commited suicide her family didn't tell anyone for months and none of her friends (me included) had any idea what was going on. I wish there'd been a site like this then so I could check and pay my last respects.

In short...don't judge things before you fully understand them.

Hi there i as just told about this site.

It seams to me this is a very morbid idea but people grieve in different ways i guess but surely the person behind it is making profit from peoples grief and quite frankly that is despicable.

How do you justify making a profit from this?

Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed how it seems like the only people who send in complaints are the ones who can't spell & have very bad grammar. In your free time I suggest taking a night class or something to further your education.

It's impossible for me to take you seriously because you don't take spelling, punctuation and capitalization seriously.

Re: Cashing in on death

Just read the first few posts of this thread and realise that fucking 'punkdude' and his bumboy 'keech' are a couple of english wankers with middle class values shoved so far up their arses that they have no concept of self identity or determination. This site is about individuals and their thing.. not you and your pseudo-punk shit (any true punk would clock you as a fake 'punkdude'). Myspace is owned by murdoch for fucks sake, he makes cash from corrupting the living.. not remembering the dead.

The one bad thing about this sight is that it can serve as a mind gym for the self righteous and their mentally imperialistic doctrines.

I just registered to make a thread about this very subject.

MyDeathSpace wristbands and pins? And you're denying that you're making profits off of people's deaths? Of all the sleazy marketing schemes in the world, this is just about the sleaziest. I have to say, I found MyDeathSpace to be pretty interesting until I realized that the only reason it exists is to make a profit. I'm sure my friends on this website (and there are quite a few) would love to know that their deaths are being put to good use.

I'm sorry about your friends, but you are wrong on the purpose of this website. The money is made to keep the site running. Mike hasn't made any profit - they are actually in the hole on the wristbands. Please direct your attention to this thread: http://mydeathspace.com/smf/index.php?topic=2080.0 It's basically states everyone's reactions to what you have said here - therefore, we don't have to repeat ourselves.

Hmm...profit? Not much, it's not like Mike is making millions of dollars through mydeathspace, this site actually makes a difference if you care to read through it. I believe most people that come in contact with this website is affected by it, whether that means slowing down when driving, or not drinking & driving...huffin spray cans and so on...

It shows you that the young can die too. Mike isn't ripping anyone off here, it's your own decision to buy mds pins and so on!

Yes, I tried reading that thread, but I got sick of the continuous bashing of the thread maker. Apparently I stopped reading before any of you actually answered the questions.
Profit or not, I find it morally wrong to sell wristbands advertising such a website as this.

Oh, that's the reason for making this site? Yeah, I buy that.

dude, this site has over 2,500 members.
Mike still has to pay costs to maintain the host for this site...
I don't think he's living on the salary he gets from there, mark that down!~ He's got his own job

Re: Cashing in on death

Actually, woot's answer was legit. That is one of the many reasons people visit this site. Mike receives love mail along with his hate mail, from parents who actually sit their teens down in front of this site and use it to teach them that they are not invincible. The father featured in the video link at the upper right hand corner illustrates yet another reason - his daughter was shot and he believes that this site is good because the more people that know about his daughter's death, the more likely someone who knows something will come forward with information. The reason for the site varies with each individual. Please do research before you go bashing the site, its creators, and its members.

I can see how the whole 'merch' area might come across as slightly distasteful, but the pro's of MDS definitely outweigh the cons.
