from the article you just posted...

They are accused in the planning, ambush and slaying of 26-year-old Daniel Sorenson last Wednesday in a Canton Township garage owned by Orlewicz's grandfather, Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy said.

Yep. I zaba searched and found the Grandfather. That's the address they said in the arraignment. Joy Road/275 area.

You're not even going to recognize Canton when you get back. Ikea is just the tip of the ice burg. I still have a hard time thinking that this sort of thing went on unnoticed. I wonder where the grandparents were. How the hell would the neighbors not have noticed? Strange stuff.

Canton has changed so much in even the last 3 years. I remember like 9 years ago we considered it "country" lol. Now it's developed almost completely.

Re: Alex Letkemann (18) and Jean-Pierre Orlewicz (17) killers

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy said two teens accused in the "bone-chilling" killing and beheading of Daniel Sorensen had carefully planned the attack for no other reason than the thrill of it.

Canton High School student Jean Pierre Orlewicz, 17, of Plymouth Township; and Alexander James Letkemann, 18, of Westland are being held without bond at the Wayne County Jail after being charged with two counts of murder and one count of mutilation of a corpse. A court date of Nov. 19 has been set.

Worthy said in a news conference Monday that neither money nor drugs appeared to be the motive when Orlewicz allegedly lured Sorensen to his grandfather's home on November 7 "for the purpose of killing him."

Orlewicz then allegedly attacked Sorensen from behind, cutting his throat with a kitchen knife. Sorensen was killed by "multiple stab wounds to the back." Orlewicz then allegedly beheaded Sorensen's body with a hacksaw and burned the body with a blowtorch in an attempt to conceal his fingerprints.

The body was wrapped into a tarp that had been laid out in the garage ahead of time. Orlewicz then placed the head into a Rubbermaid container.

According to testimony at the arraignment, Orlewicz had trouble lifting the body into his pickup truck. So he asked Letkemann to come over and help him.

The body was then brought to Hidden Ridge Drive in Northville Township and his head dumped into the Rouge River near the Detroit/Dearborn border.

Worthy said her office is looking at other "persons of interest" in the case.

She also praised the law enforcement officials from scattered communities who pooled their resources to make the arrests in the case. She expressed her shock at the nature of the crime.

"Even though we have seen it all, or think we've seen it all, still a crime like this surprises us all," Worthy said during the news conference Monday. "It makes us think and ask a lot of questions about our society."

IKEA was pretty far from me in phx. Here, the closest stores are abt 2 hours away.
Pretty exciting to know that I can start going back to the IKEA hacker website and actually have the means to use it.
It's an excellent DIY site for shit from IKEA.

I like the way we subtly worked shopping into this thread!

Now from the report Tara posted, it made it sounds like Letkemann's part in the crime was only in the disposal of the body. What this scrawy kid Orlewicz had against Sorenson is beyond me. This is going to get interesting.

Well kudos to the police for solving it, I really thought they'd let this one go - sounds like several townships worked together.

As far as this being a "thrill murder"... I can't even begin to fathom what this kid was thinking. I'm positively gobsmacked. Speechless. And you all know that's not like me.

RIP Daniel...

They just showed the victim. He seemed pretty big compared to these dumb ass boys. I wonder how it all really went down. I am thinking they had to make the first attack from behind.
Also, the girl the victim had his previous 'situation' with was fourteen. Her family lives in IL.

I wonder how old he was when the incident occurred. As far as his charge, 4th degree sexual misconduct, it involves inappropriate touching (not penetration). Not that that makes it any better. Ironic though that this crime was completely unrelated, and that the media latched on to his "sexual offender" status so readily.

...I wonder what he was charged with exactly. In AZ, if you get caught/convicted peeing outside in the desert, and you are the ONLY one around (except for the cop, of course) you have to register as a sex offender.

The comments from Alex's sister on his MS are heartbreaking. I wonder what sort of influence JT had over him to convince him to participate in the disposal of the body? Something tells me that more kids will be found to have involvement.

I agree, I think there will be at least one more person involved.

No Problem! I can't take the credit though. I found it through the true crime blog ;)

I wonder if they bothered checking the Meijer security cameras to see if they could spot anyone driving the truck before they abandoned it.

I just can't wrap my head around "thrill kill".

I'm one of the coldest people I know. I mean, I have kindness, and empathy and all, but I'm the guy that always puts down animals in distress, I hunt..... I don't enjoy the actual act of killing, but I sleep ok. I could easily kill a person given the right circumstances, fear, my kids, my family.....things like that.
I have resorted to violence in the past, when I could have sought other alternatives.

I just can't imagine killing someone for Fun. It's not fun.

Alex's parents spoke at a press conference and it's really devastating to see them, they are in complete denial. The media here didn't hesitate to call the victim "a sex offender" over and over when in fact, he got in trouble at the age of 18 for touching his girlfriend (14) who he had apparently claimed told him she was 16. The whole thing is such a mess.

You have to kind of expect that the parents are going to be in denial. Who can believe that their child is a thrill-killer? I mean, honestly. I kind of feel bad for them, especially when they interviewed the father. He just looked so shocked and dazed. He almost completely broke down saying "this is just, so out of his character... " He truly looked heartbroken compared to some parents I've seen in interviews. A gag order is (or has) being placed on this case.

How would you feel if you were a friend or relative of the person his son killed?
Fuck em. They raised an alleged killer. If they would have known him better, maybe it coulda helped.
Doubtful, but maybe.
