New Website Causes Controversy
By Diane Brennan/KTAR

Mydeathspace.com is a web site on the deaths of Myspace users. Is the virtual graveyard out of bounds?

"The really distasteful thing about this, of course, is that this is not a public interest site. Mydeathspace.com is presumably a for-profit website," said Andrew Kene, author of The Cult of the Amateur.

He told ABC Mews that anybody could tap into the site and type anything they wanted. "Particularly when we go online as anonymous members, we tend to behave like animals. We have no respect for other people. We insult them."

Is it time to start self-policing sites like this? "Anonymity is a disaster and we need to do away with that to improve the Web and if we don't, then ultimately, an external form of authority, the government, will have to step in," Kene said.
Another piece I was NOT interviewed for.

Two things:

- I love "ABC Mews"

- Andrew Kene is a douchebag. I'll let you know how is book is. Hopefully it's filled with little to no research just like his quote.

That's exactly what we need.
The government needs to step in and make sure that I don't call an 18-year old an asshole when she slams into on-coming traffic due to driving-and-texting.

That wouldn't be a waste of resources at all.
Don't you know how 'uphauling' talking about the dead can be! There should be a law!

I have enough problems saying those things on here without the Government stepping in.

Apparently Keen will be on the Colbert Report tonight:

"Speaking of being outwitted and taken to the cleaners, I'm appearing on the Colbert Report this Thursday (8/16). So those of you who want to see me get the mother of wallopings should tune in then. No doubt he'll make me the central comedy on Comedy Central (serves me right for idealizing mainstream media)."

Beat me to it. And that looks exactly like my kitty-cat!

I like how he says it is "presumably" for-profit. Why not just ask, instead of making presumptions and actually writing a news article based on those presumptions? What a tool. I hope Colbert makes him look like more of a douchebag.

Who on here is actually anonymous, anyway? I mean, most of us have links to our real myspaces and real pictures of ourselves in our avatars.

1. I beg to differ with this douche. If people would actually read the articles and most of the various thread comments, they'd soon realize MDS is indeed a public interest site if one wishes to educate oneself in ways NOT to make an early exit.

2. I always behave like an insulting, disrespectful animal. These aren't personality characteristics I save for the shroud of anonymity provided by the internetz when discussing the dead.

I think all of these self-professed "experts" expressing their opinions of Mike, MDS, and MDS members need to use both hands and pull their heads from their asses.

In case Mr. Keen/Kean/Keane reads this thread, here's a little message from me to him:
