Arkansas couple have their 17th child, say they want more

i would imagine all this crazy woman needs to do is squat and cough to get #17 out! good grief! old jim bob is gonna need 2 x 4's to keep from falling in during sex!!!

LITTLE ROCK: An Arkansas couple had a baby daughter Thursday — their 17th child and seventh girl — and the pair say they're still not ready to give it a rest.

Jennifer Danielle was born at 10:01 a.m. at a hospital in Rogers, Arkansas, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar said in an interview.

"We'd love to have more," Michelle said, referring to baby girls. "We love the ruffles and lace."

Jennifer joins the fast-growing Duggar brood, who live in a 7,000-square-foot (650-square-meter) home in Tontitown. All the children — whose names start with the letter J — are taught at home.

The oldest is 19 and the youngest, before Jennifer, is almost 2 years old.
"We are just so grateful to God for another gift from him," said Jim Bob Duggar, a former state representative. "We are just so thankful to him that everything went just very well."

    Jennifer joins siblings: Joshua, 19; John David, 17; Janna, 17; Jill, 16; Jessa, 14; Jinger, 13; Joseph, 12; Josiah, 11; Joy-Anna, 9; Jedidiah, 8; Jeremiah, 8; Jason 7; James 6; Justin, 4; Jackson, 3; Johannah, almost 2.

Michelle Duggar said she started feeling contractions Wednesday night and went to the hospital at about 5 a.m. Thursday.

"It actually went fast," she said. "I guess once I started progressing, it went within 30 minutes."

The Duggars have been featured on several programs on cable television's Discovery Health Network. The next special, the Duggar Family Album, is scheduled to air next month, Jim Bob Duggar said.

Among the "fun facts" listed on Discovery Health's Web page devoted to the Duggars: A baby has been born in every month except June; the Duggars have gone through an estimated 90,000 diapers, and Michelle has been pregnant for 126 months — or 10.5 years — of her life.

This reminds me of that Monty Python Movie where the Irish lady has the baby fall out while she's doing laundry!!

I know this is biased, but nothing says white trash to me more than the words "home schooled". Now how the hell are these kids getting a proper education? Thanks Duggars for unleashing 17 more morons into the world.

They probably can't afford a big enough car to take them to and from school everyday. Plus all those open houses you have to go to, plus all that homework, and the projects. Now how would this mother be able to go to alll the teacher meetings.

On the other hand..... have you been to public school lately? She may be giving them a better education. heh.

seriously? yea, that's pretty fucking biased, andy.

personally, i would rather teach my child myself than send them to 80% of schools we have here in the US. our education system is SHIT. i commend parents who decide to teach their children themselves... it's not easy. and to call it white trash is pretty uhm, ignorant.

I guess it depends on where they live. Most kids in my area ride the bus. The article did say they have a 7000 square foot home, so maybe there is money somewhere? I understand all the hardships one would go through to meet all the demands of having a child in the school system. That's probably one of the reasons most people don't have 17 kids I guess!

i think that education is more about socialization then people think, which i why i don't believe home schooling is not such a good idea.

it's good for kids to get to meet different kids, experience the drama of childhood and even get picked on a little. it's not so good for kids to just stay home and be coddled. IMO.

Oh you have a point there. My friends basically cut their lives short for homework. I've even been dragged in. I once had to make a Tara Lipinski (ice skater) out of a 2 liter bottle of Pepsi with my friend's daughter. Ughhh.

i know lots of kids who were home schooled and they are perfectly normal and socialized. they met other kids through church or through sports teams and stuff. it's not white trash. it's not for everyone. but it's definitely NOT white trash.

i guess i've only known one family who home schooled, and they only knew kids from their church (do mormons call it church????) sorry... anyway, they were totally under a rock and had no contact with "the real world" for the most part. i felt very sorry for them, they didn't even know the rest of their family who were not mormons until they were nearly adults.

they were not white trash, however. ;)

You're right. Maybe saying that was a bit extreme. I guess the thought of 17 kids being home schooled all at once struck me at WT. I just think that educated socialized adults realize the value of sending their own children to school. I think teachers are qualified to teach, parents.....not necessarily.

I'm guessing it's a religious (no birth control) issue:

"Mr Duggar, 44, is a real estate-agent who served in the Arkansas House of Representatives from 1999 to 2002. He was a candidate for the US Senate in 2002 but lost the ballot.

Mrs Duggar, 41, and her husband are politically conservative fundamentalist Christians.

    They reportedly live debt-free. "

right? the average cost of ONE child for 18 years is $113,400. multiply that by 17 and that's $1,927,800. almost two million dollars!!!!

he used to be a state rep. so you know he doesn't make that much money... the average rep makes about $165,200/year.

    very irresponsible indeed.

I hope it's not one of those bullshit situations where the church/neighbors etc. donate tons of cash. Like you hear about the women who took fertility drugs and end up giving birth to sextuplets and then go on to have a nice new home, car, extreme makeover donated to them.

i don't remember enough form income tax to say if there is a limit on child deductions or not. i'm gonna guess there is not....

Federal you can only claim 2. I have 6 and 2 is the limit.....
There are ways to get more money from them, but with all the publicity they garner, it wouldn't work.

No.... I won't say how here.

But when we got the food stamps a couple years back, I got almost 1000 a month with a 30K income, for 5 kids.

They are banking food stamps, if they get them, with all those kids, I'd say at least 2500, even if they work. With 5 kids the cutoff for assistance was like 55 K.

I fucking hate the duggars. They are such morons. The house that they live in was built for them, for free, by volunteers.

here's an idea, use a fucking condom. I think it's incredibly selfish and socially irresponsible. Houses should be built for people that aren't trying to overpopulate the world...houses should be built for people that had a few too many kids on accident lol, not for some crazy fundamentalists that just keep on popping them out.
    I hate the duggars...with a passion.
