Steven Tate found dead in Smiths Falls, ON. 2 other men still missing.

All three men knew each other and lived in a small town with a population less than 10k. One has been found dead.

The Lanark County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police is investigating after the body of a missing man, Steven Tate, 34, was found adjacent to Highway 15 near Smiths Falls on Wednesday.

Tate had been reported missing on Nov. 4. OPP say he was last seen alive in the early morning hours that day.

A body was located adjacent to Highway 15 on Wednesday, Nov. 8, by OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) members. OPP have confirmed on Thursday, Nov. 9, the body was that of Tate. Highway 15 was closed while technical collision investigators and a collision reconstructionist assisted.

The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death is ongoing, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.

?There is believed to be no threat to public safety,? OPP said in a release issued on Thursday, Nov. 9.

Investigators also want to hear from anyone with potentially relevant doorbell, dashcam or other video recordings from the days leading up to his disappearance.

They have a description of the vehicle so obviously there must be video of the incident somewhere. I wonder why it took them so long to announce that it was a hit and run.
