A couple, their two children and three dogs were found fatally shot Sunday in a suburban Chicago home.

The bodies were found about 8:40 p.m. in Romeoville by officers sent to the home by concerned relatives of the victims to conduct a well-being check, Romeoville Police Deputy Chief Chris Burne told reporters Monday.

The victims were believed to have been shot between Saturday night and early Sunday, Burne said. The deaths are being investigated as murders, he added.

The adults were identified as Roberto Rolon and Zoraida Bartolomei.

According to Burne, the department is investigating the incident as a murder.

"We don't believe that the offender is among the victims right now," Burne said. "It is not a murder-suicide."

Burne added that the department is "not actively looking" for suspects in the area, and that they are not asking residents to shelter in place.

"There is no ongoing threat due to the time frame that has gone by; more than 18 hours from the time we were contacted," Burne said.

Neighbors didn't hear a shitload of gunshots and dogs barking? There had to have been a ton of noise going on while it was happening between 2 kids and 3 dogs.

I'm wondering about motive too. This had to have been targeted. Really sad.

Right? What are they doing, then? Hoping the killer stops by the precinct to say hello?

Only thing I can think of is they know who did it, maybe a family member or something.

I just don't get the whole "no ongoing threat". Um, as long as there is a murderer out there, that's a threat to me!

Exactly. I agree that they likely have a suspect in mind.

Person in car with license plate allegedly connected to suspect in Illinois killings dies after trying to elude police, authorities say

The male, whom authorities haven’t positively identified, crashed the vehicle while police in the Oklahoma city of Catoosa pursued it, and the vehicle caught fire, authorities said. The male was found dead in the driver’s seat with a gunshot wound, according to Chris Burne, deputy chief of police in Romeoville, Illinois.

A female passenger in the vehicle also had a gunshot wound, and she was listed in critical condition Wednesday, Burne said; the passenger’s name was not released.

The vehicle’s license plate, Burne said, is connected to a suspect in the weekend killings of two adults, their two children and their three dogs in Romeoville, some 30 miles southwest of Chicago.
Hours after discovering their bodies, police identified Nathaniel Huey Jr. as a suspect in the case and an unnamed female as a “person of interest,” Burne said at a news conference Wednesday.

Evidence revealed a connection between the suspect and the victims, as well as a “possible motive,” Burne said, without elaborating.
