The Dock Ellis Foundation, a non-profit that assists minority crime victims, has stepped in to assist Tamia’s family. The foundation’s CEO, Jasmine Ellis, said they’ve been contributing to search and rescue efforts in the case, which have been paused while they wait for authorities to identify the body.
“They’ve definitely reached out to the family; however, until they are able to identify the body, there will be really no communication in regards to what’s going on with the body they recovered yesterday,” said Ellis. “So, we have not received any word. We just have to sit back and wait for the identification to happen.”
On Saturday the foundation released the following statement on behalf of Tamia’s family:
“Tamia Taylor’s mother asks that the community please, don’t give up as the individual retrieved … has not been identified, but continue to pray either way. We may not know if it’s Tamia, but it’s someone’s family member. The search must continue.”
