Four University of Idaho Students Found Dead

    https://www.cnn.com/2022/11/14/us/un...ion/index.html

4 University of Idaho students found dead in home outside campus in what police are calling a homicide

A homicide investigation is underway after four University of Idaho students were found dead Sunday at a home just outside the campus, police and the university?s president said.

Officers responding before noon to a call of an unconscious person discovered the fatalities, the Moscow Police Department said in a news release.

'It is with deep sadness that I share with you that the university was notified today of the death of four University of Idaho students living off-campus believed to be victims of homicide,' university president Scott Green said in a statement to the campus community.

Police have not released the causes of death or identities of the victims. Police have indicated 'there is no ongoing threat,' the university tweeted Sunday without elaborating.

The stunning discovery comes as another US college campus the University of Virginia in Charlottesville is reeling as authorities hunt early Monday for a gunman, identified as a UVA student, accused of killing three people and wounding two Sunday on school grounds. A lockdown there remains in place.

At the University of Idaho where students Sunday afternoon initially were advised to shelter in place amid the homicide probe in-person and online classes Monday are canceled and set to resume Tuesday.

The deceased students' families have been notified, and the university is working to assist with the police investigation, Green said. Anyone with information about the case has been asked to contact Moscow Police.

'We are grateful for the support of the community and the ongoing efforts of the Police Department. The university is committed to supporting students and families during this difficult time,' Green said.

I wonder who made the 911 call.

How on earth would they know that there isnt a threat to the public? They have no way of knowing that.

I dont think it was a robbery, because college students are usually broke. I guess they pissed off the wrong person.

Yeah, the part about there not being a threat to the public is odd. It makes me wonder if it is more of a murder-suicide?

    Yes, me, too.
How can they know there's no active threat but they're all murdered?
They're also calling it a "crime of passion" but don't say why they think it.
Maybe they're not sure which one did it but think one of them did to the other three.

    The coroner said it's not a murder-suicide.
This is like a logic puzzle. 4 people, "attack," "crime of passion," homicide, community not at risk, no one in custody :huh3

What if they all turned on each other? Like, they all had a weapon?

That would still be a murder suicide.

One of their boyfriends or girlfriends went berserk and killed them all.

This. It's the only thing I can think of that supports the crime of passion.

Yep. And we all learned with Delphi that just because LE claims that there's "No threat to the public" that it doesn't mean it's true.

4 University of Idaho students were likely killed with an "edged weapon," police say; no suspects in custody

Investigators think an edged weapon was used in the deaths of four University of Idaho students, police said Tuesday. Officials said all four students, who were found dead inside a home near campus on Sunday, are considered victims in the case.

No weapons have been located thus far, police said, but based on preliminary information, "investigators believe that an edged weapon such as a knife was used," Moscow Police Captain Anthony Dahlinger said in a statement. There are no suspects in custody.

Autopsies scheduled to be completed later this week could provide more information on the exact cause of death.

Police discovered the students' bodies just before noon Sunday as they responded to a report of an unconscious person at a home steps away from the Moscow, Idaho, campus. The victims were identified as Ethan Chapin, a 20-year-old from Conway, Washington; Madison Mogen, a 21-year-old from Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; Xana Kernodle, 20, from Avondale, Arizona; and Kaylee Goncalves, 21, from Rathdrum, Idaho.

The Moscow Police Department has labeled the deaths as "homicides" but maintains there is not an active risk to the community.

So awful, I would rather be shot than knifed to death.

I just don't get it at all. Four students murdered, but hey, everyone else in the community doesn't have to worry.

I clicked and it's just a judge talking about another case. Maybe they're running late?

Primary points from the press conference:

Ethan and Xana were at a party; Madison and Kaylee were at a bar.

Stabbed with a knife; weapon has yet to be found. No evidence of forced entry.

Based on details at scene, they believe it is an isolated incident.

Cannot say there is no danger to public at this point, but stressed they feel it is an isolated, targeted incident. Remain vigilant.

Have no suspect as of now; is an active investigation.

It still pisses me off that they told the community there is no danger to them and have remained tight-lipped. They feel it is an isolated incident, but still, FOUR young persons were brutally murdered and they don't know who did it. If that isn't cause for alarm, I don't know what is. The only new evidence they provided was where each of them were the night before and there being no signs of forced entry. Barely anything else.

I turned the tv just in time to hear them saying they couldn't guarantee there was no danger to the community. So why say that???

    Thanks for the link!

Okay, so how did I miss that there were two other roommates there that survived?! And apparently didn't bother to call 911 until Noon? This reminds me of what's her face and what happened in Italy. I can't think of the name off the top of my head.

Anyway, I suppose it's possible that they had been partying and were passed out and didn't hear what was going on in the rest of the house. They wake up the next day late and hung over and find the four of them dead. However, it's sounding like they might be involved somehow. It's kind of hard for me to believe that they slept through a quadruple murder and weren't harmed themselves.
