Sad! I love Depeche Mode. Of the three of them, you certainly wouldn't have bet on Fletch being the first to go!

An extremely sad day. I loved DP for their unapologetic use of synths. I've actually had Martin Gore in one of my audiences playing with one of my bands. By all accounts they were down to Earth in real life despite the appearance of being aloof and unapproachable.

Who?! Just kidding. They used to play "Precious" at Abercrombie & Fitch when I worked there.

One month after Depeche Mode keyboardist and founding member Andy Fletcher’s death, the band has released a new statement on social media, confirming the cause of death.

In a statement posted to the official Depeche Mode Instagram account on Monday, the band’s remaining members Martin Gore and Dave Gahan said that Fletcher died of an aortic dissection while at his home on May 26, and that his family had asked the band to share the news.

“A couple weeks ago we received the result from the medical examiners, which Andy’s family asked us to share with you now,” the post reads. “Andy suffered an aortic dissection while at home on May 26. So, even though it was far, far too soon, he passed naturally and without prolonged suffering.”

Horrible way to go. My mom was a nurse and she said she saw someone die this way. She said they sat up, threw up a bunch of blood, had a look of terror on his eyes and died.

BWS Im glad your aunt lived.

    Thank you.

She recently passed away but was able to live 15 years after the dissection without any issues.
