Three American tourists died at the five-star Sandals Emerald Bay Resort in Exuma, the Bahamas, on Friday morning, the luxury hotel chain said.
I had literally been looking at rooms at this resort this week, for my birthday next month. Maybe I will re-think that. Or maybe now they will have a flash sale and I can get them for cheap.

My guess is they were drugged by the staff. Remember when people were dying because of the alcohol they were being served had something added to it? This is not good.

Don't do it RBW!!!! Or at least if you do, write me in to your will.

I will do that if I decide to go, but probably not happening because it will mean boarding my spoiled dogs.

I do remember that, it was down in the Dominican Republic. I have always wanted to go to Exuma, but I don't really want to go to an all inclusive there. I really want to go here: https://harborviewexuma.com/

I wonder what the other guests are doing. I would presume they're all leaving the place. If you can't pinpoint what killed them, then everything is a possibility. Can't really relax and have fun when you're paranoid of every drink or meal or of the water in general or the hotel rooms or......

How could these deaths not be suspicious? Carbon monoxide/pesticide saga again?

I thought about CO poisoning, but the couple went to the hospital the night before they died and the effects didn't wear off. They were still sick at the hospital after the CO would have worn off. Also, every story about CO always talks about how peaceful everyone looked. Like they went to sleep and just didn't wake up. The reports are stating that it's obvious that they had convulsions. They didn't die silently or peacefully. Couldn't be CO IMHO.

Agreed. Poisoning seems most likely, either pesticides, herbicides, or less likely food poison or crazed serial killer.

Yeah the wife who survived had all of her limbs swollen and couldnt move. Sounds like a neurotoxin.

My guess would be that 95% of their guests are American. It's right across from Florida and many people I know go there all the time.

Yeah. I see no conspiracy here. Just a freaky and unfortunate event.

When I was little, our air con leaked freon in the middle of the night. It smoked though, so we got out of there ASAP. We were lucky.

Cause of death revealed for three Americans found dead at Bahamas resort: report

Carbon monoxide poisoning was determined to be the cause of death for three Americans found dead at a Sandals resort in the Bahamas, a new report said Monday.

Autopsy and toxicology reports have been completed following the deaths of Tennessee couple Michael Phillips, 68, and Robbie Phillips, 65, and Florida resident Vincent Chiarella, 64, according to the Nassau Guardian.

The medical examiner said the cause of death was carbon monoxide poisoning. No further information was released.

The three Americans died under mysterious circumstances at the Sandals Emerald Bay resort on the island of Exuma on May 6 while staying in separate villas.

The victims were found unresponsive in their rooms after allegedly seeking medical help for feeling ill the prior night.

Chiarella’s wife, Donnis, was briefly hospitalized but recovered.

There’s been ongoing speculation about what might’ve caused the deaths, including an investigation into the food that was served. Several guests also complained that there was a strong odor of insecticides.

Possible leaks from the air conditioning and the water heater on the property are also being probed.

The families of the dead tourists demanded a second, independent autopsy in addition to the one by a Bahamian pathologist, the country’s Minister of Health and Wellness said in an interview with Eyewitness News last week.

“There’s still some investigations ongoing at the Sandals resort. We also have the pathologists in-country who have done their job and samples were sent to a very reliable lab in the United States,” Dr. Michael Darville said, according to Eyewitness News.

None of the deceased showed any trauma, but showed signs of convulsions, the Royal Bahamian Police said. Foul play isn’t suspected.

That surprises me because CO doesn't normally cause convulsions. Every other story I've ever read stated that the people just looked peacefully asleep. Something isn't adding up here. If they showed signs of having seizures and vomiting etc and went to the hospital and didn't improve being away from the CO, then I call bullshit. In addition, surely people have been in those cabins since and they didn't suffer from any kind of confusion or sickness. It's not like the source of the CO just stops pumping out CO.

We have Airbnb properties and can tell you that it is an option to have a carbon monoxide detector. We have them in all our properties, but many don't.

Until recently it was an option to have them here in rental properties, unless you had a 2 story house. We have always had them in our rental houses, even when we weren't required to.

I guess I just figured a 5 star resort would have them. A rinky dink motel? Not so much.
