Ahreal Smith (28) found dead after going missing from her work

    https://www.foxnews.com/us/virginia-...s-taking-trash

With her car running outside her workplace in Heathsville, Virginia, 28-year-old Ahreal Smith seemingly vanished into thin air Wednesday night, after she was captured by security cameras getting ready to leave at the end of her shift.

Smith was last seen on surveillance footage closing up the Claraville Little Sue store, where she worked, on Jan. 12 shortly after 9 p.m., according to authorities.

The surveillance video has not yet been released to the public, Northumberland County Sheriff Johnny Beauchamp told Fox News Digital. He said the FBI currently has it.
Smith was last seen on surveillance footage closing up the Claraville Little Sue store in Heathsville where she worked on Jan. 12 at around 9 p.m., according to authorities.

The video shows Smith went out to start her car at around 9:05, then returned inside, according to the sheriff's office.

At 9:18 she got briefly into a different car that was in the parking lot. Police said they questioned that driver and do not consider them a suspect.

After that Smith went back to the store, locked it up and turned on the alarm.

The video next showed Smith picking up a trash bag and walking out of the view of the camera. She has not been seen since. A co-worker found her car empty and still idling in the parking lot the next morning.

A state police K-9 unit tracked Smith?s scent for about 50 yards, from the dumpsters to Walnut Point Road.
Ahreal Smith?s sister, Lydia, pleaded for anyone with information to come forward.

"We believe she got into a vehicle at that point," Beauchamp said during a news briefing Friday.

Investigators said the stretch between 9:18 p.m. on Jan. 12 and 4:30 a.m. on Jan. 13 is of interest.

Smith?s sister, Lydia Smith, also pleaded for anyone with information to come forward during the briefing.

"If anybody knows anything, big, small, whatever, then let us know," she said. "Let us know something. It?s getting cold. My sister?s been gone for almost two days.

Smith is 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighs around 170 pounds. She wears a wig and has numerous tattoos, including a rose on her right thigh, according to authorities. She was last seen wearing a black Nike hooded sweatshirt, jeans and a pair of Uggs.

Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff?s office at 804-580-5221.

Sheriff’s Office: Body matching description of missing Northumberland County woman found

The Northumberland County Sheriff’s Office said a body matching the description of a missing woman has been found.

The sheriff’s office said they had more than 50 people on the ground searching for 28-year-old Ahrea’l Smith, but unfortunately, the search ended after a body was found on a property in Heathsville.
After an extensive search operation throughout the day, search crews located a body, matching the description of Ahrea’l Smith, on a property in Heathsville,” Sheriff Johnny Beauchamp said. “Her body will be sent to the medical examiner’s office in Richmond for an autopsy.”

50-year-old Tyrone Samuel of Heathsville was charged with abduction of Smith on Saturday. Deputies would not confirm if the body was found on Samuel’s property or where search efforts ended.

Officials said more charges are being sought in connection.

Wow, sounds like she got snatched from the front of the store as she threw away the night's trash. He could have been hiding in the enclosure. Surely some of the cameras from the gas station picked up SOMETHING. I can't believe that whole area isn't covered. That's most likely how they had a suspect before they found poor Ahreal.

    Rest in peace...

The fact that someone is allowed to close up a store at night alone baffles me.

EXACTLY! Like, all of the lessons we've learnt in the past 50 years are suddenly unlearnt!

What's next, encouraging children to accept rides from strangers in vans?

I agree and whenever I worked places like this, we always used the buddy system. Unfortunately with corporations cutting corners and staff, they're now left with this kind of situation happening again. I can only imagine that like everyplace right now, they're short staffed so she was left to close alone.

    So sad and preventable

Me either...and I noticed that it doesn't say kidnapping. So did she go with him willingly and then he killed her?

I wondered the same thing, and then thought that maybe the Virginia statute includes kidnapping as a circumstance to First Degree Murder, so I looked it up - and it does. Still, I would include the charge just in case the jury found him not guilty of the murder, but would at least find him guilty of kidnapping, kwim? Check it out:

What Is First-Degree Murder Under Virginia Law?

Under Virginia Code ? 18.2-32, first-degree murder is defined as murder other than capital murder. In addition, the murder must have been committed under one of these circumstances:

The killing was committed in specific ways stated in Virginia Code ? 18.2-32.

These include poison, lying in wait, imprisonment, or starvation.

The murder was committed in the commission of or the attempt to commit arson, rape, forcible sodomy, inanimate or animate object sexual penetration, robbery, burglary, or abduction.

The killing was willful, deliberate, and premeditated.
I always theorized he was hiding in the dumpster enclosure and surprised her. She wasn't expecting to go anywhere with anyone because remember, her car was running.

How did they find him so soon? There MUST have been video coverage from that gas station (they said the market cameras were inop). Maybe she DID know him, and the video shows her getting into his car on her own. She might have joined him for an after-work smoke before she went home, I've done that enough in my younger days. Shit goes wrong and people do screwed up things.

    I don't know.

That's scary. Stores should be responsible for stuff like this. They're more concerned about profits than they are about the lives of their employees.
