Partial human remains were reportedly located in a Florida nature park where authorities have searched for Brian Laundrie, and a medical examiner has responded to the area, in the search for the fugitive wanted in the Gabby Petito case.

The discovery of remains comes after some items belonging to Laundrie were found in the Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park.

Law enforcement sources told NBC News that the remains were found in a section of the Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park that had previously been underwater due to heavy rains.

It's been super hot and dry for the last month...just saying.

“After a brief search off a trail that Brian frequented some articles belonging to Brian were found. As of now law enforcement is conducting a more thorough search of that area,” Bertolino added.

Laundrie’s parents, who have claimed their son went to Myakkahatchee on Sept. 13, left their North Port home about 7:15 a.m. for the park, where two men in hiking gear began following them, according to Fox News.

One of the men later identified himself as a law enforcement officer, who apparently told the couple, “I think we might have found something,” according to the network.

The Laundries later discovered a white bag and another object after making their way through a thicket. They could be seen putting the object into the bag and handing it over to the officer, Fox News reported.

The couple were seen making and receiving phone calls before being joined by the officer, who patted Chris on the shoulder.

At 8:45 a.m., the Laundries left the park and appeared emotional when they were confronted by protesters before they headed back home.

This isn't the stuff that makes me hate his parents. What makes me hate the family is that Brian returned home with HER VAN and without HER. Gabby's parents contacted them after that worried about both Brian and Gabby since they hadn't heard from her. His parents ignored their calls and texts. They weren't even aware that Brian was home. So one: they didn't think it was strange that he came back with her van and not her? What story did he tell them about where she was? Did they just take his word for it? They never raised the alarm that Gabby was missing. Second: not only did they not inform Gabby's parents that Brian returned without her and with HER VAN, when her parents contacted them they ignored them completely. It wasn't until the 8th of September that Gabby's parents learned that Brian had been home for over a week and Gabby was still missing. This was all before any authorities or lawyer was involved.

They took him camping for one last hurrah, but they realized what he had done and were humiliated and disappointed in him, so they did an honor killing and transported his body to the Reserve.


Also, as a sibling of a murderer, I am not going to lump the sister in with the parents. She doesn't live with them, and hasn't been in on all of this. We have no idea what/when/if she knew anything. The parents, yeah, I will agree they had to know that something was up. But the sister herself has said that she was pissed that they were basically closing the door on her and she wasn't very complimentary of them or Brian, and she told him to turn himself in. It's easy to lump everyone in together because they share the same genetics, but it doesn't sound to me like she knew anything.

The partial remains that were found in a North Port park this week during the search for Brian Laundrie are being worked on, but there is no timeline yet on how soon they will be identified.

The remains found Wednesday were skeletal, according to Brian Entin. Dr. Russell Vega, the chief medical examiner for Florida’s Twelfth District, confirmed Thursday that his team is “currently working on the remains” that were found Wednesday. According to Vega, that includes a continued investigation at the scene, as well as identification.

North Port Public Information Officer Josh Taylor said the remains found Wednesday were located about two to three miles into the Carlton Reserve, which is about a 45-minute walk from the Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park entrance. The park and reserve are connected to each other.

According to the FBI, the area where the remains and the items belonging to Laundrie were found was underwater until recently. During the weeks-long search for Laundrie, law enforcement crews spoke often about the difficulty of the terrain in the nature reserve.

“Today when I walked back there, I got to see firsthand the treacherous conditions that they were working on,” Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno said during a news conference Thursday morning. “We’re talking water levels up above almost the chest area, rattlesnakes, moccasins, alligators.”

ETA: I really do recommend watching it as it's a really good synopsis of the timeline and their relationship according to friends and family. She not my favorite youtuber and she rubbed me the wrong way plenty of times, but at least in this case she provides sources for where she found the information.
