I listened to a good two part video on this case.

The Father did it. He had to have done it. And I don't think that he was paying someone to help him suicide at all. I think he knew he would dodge the bullet and then make it look like someone was trying to kill the whole family because of the boating incident. He killed his wife and son for the insurance money and wanted to frame it as if someone else murdered them because of the boating thing. Having someone make an attempt on him would only help that theory.

    This dude is insane.

Alex Murdaugh faces 21 new charges as prior bond hearing is postponed

Alex Murdaugh, the South Carolina attorney accused of arranging for a former client to kill him so his son could collect a life insurance payout worth millions, faces a slew of new criminal charges over alleged financial crimes.

Seven new indictments with 21 criminal charges have been filed against Murdaugh, South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson announced Thursday.

The once-prominent attorney, in custody in Columbia for other charges, and has faced increased scrutiny since the renewed attention on the unsolved fatal shootings of his wife and other son in June and the opening of an investigation in September into the 2018 death of his housekeeper.

A bond hearing Friday for Murdaugh for 27 previous charges was delayed after the new charges were filed, said a spokesperson from the South Carolina Attorney General's office.

Judge Alison Lee wanted to give Murdaugh's attorneys time to familiarize themselves with the latest round of charges, the attorney general's office says. A new bond hearing is expected at some point next week, according to the spokesperson.

The prior charges include "Breach of Trust with Fraudulent Intent, Obtaining Property by False Pretenses, Money Laundering, Computer Crimes, and Forgery," according to an attorney general's statement.
The additional indictments bring the total number of charges faced by Murdaugh to 48 after a state grand jury investigation. All the charges stem from an alleged wide-ranging scheme that sought to defrauded victims of more than $6 million.

CNN reached out Thursday to Murdaugh's attorney.

Murdaugh is currently in jail on charges of conspiracy to commit insurance fraud, accused of misappropriating millions of dollars in funds meant for the family of his longtime housekeeper who died in an accident at the Murdaugh home in 2018. A lawsuit against Murdaugh was filed in September on behalf of Satterfield's estate, seeking the money the family says it is due.

On September 4, a day after he resigned from his law firm amid allegations he had misappropriated funds, Murdaugh was shot in the head on a roadway, but survived.

He later admitted to authorities he conspired with former client Curtis Smith to kill him as part of a fraud scheme so that his only surviving son could collect a $10 million life insurance payout, according to an affidavit to support charges against the alleged gunman.

Alex Murdaugh agrees to a $4.3 million settlement in housekeeper case

Suspended South Carolina attorney Alex Murdaugh has agreed to a $4.3 million settlement with the family of Gloria Satterfield, his former housekeeper, according to family attorney, Eric Bland.
During a bond hearing for Murdaugh on Monday, his attorney said he "agreed to confessing a judgment of $4.3 million" to her family.

Satterfield spent more than two decades with the Murdaugh family and died after suffering a fall at their home in 2018.

According to affidavits released by the South Carolina Enforcement Division, "Mr. Murdaugh coordinated with (Gloria) Satterfield's family to sue himself in order to seek an insurance settlement with the stated intent to give the proceeds to the Satterfield family to pay for funeral expenses and monetary compensation for Satterfield's children." Murdaugh deposited more than nearly $3 million into an account he owned, the affidavits said.

Alex Murdaugh has been taken into custody in Orlando, Florida for two felony counts of Obtaining Property by False Pretenses, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) said Thursday.

According to a release from SLED, the "charges stem from a SLED investigation into misappropriated settlement funds in the death of Gloria Satterfield, " the longtime housekeeper of the Murdaugh family who allegedly died as a result of a "trip and fall" at one of the family homes in 2018.

His attorney told Judge Alison Lee Murdaugh agreed to the confession of judgment and issued an apology to the Satterfield and Harriott families.

He then read from a brief apology statement from Murdaugh to the Satterfield family "for his financial transgressions committed in connection with the wrongful death settlement funds recovered in connection with the death of Gloria Satterfield and the pain it has caused."

The judgment agreement must be approved by a receiver who currently controls all of Murdaugh's money and assets before it can be finalized.

If he can post the $7 million bond assigned Monday, the following conditions will apply: he will be placed on house arrest with GPS monitoring, not be allowed contact with any witnesses or co-defendants, will have to receive mental health and substance abuse counseling and surrender his passport.
I am convinced he killed his wife and son for the insurance money. Dude was greedy!

Alex Murdaugh charged with 23 more crimes

A South Carolina grand jury has returned four new indictments against suspended attorney Alex Murdaugh, charging him with 23 more crimes, the state attorney general said Friday.

The charges include 19 counts of breach of trust with fraudulent intent and four counts of computer crimes.

The latest indictment alleges that Murdaugh stole more than $2.2 million meant for four clients Natarsha Thomas, Hakeem Pinckney, Arthur Badger and Deon Martin.

Murdaugh is accused of stealing nearly $8.5 million in settlement money altogether, according to indictments.

CNN has reached out to Murdaugh's attorney for comment.

Earlier this week, Judge Alison Lee denied Murdaugh's motion to reconsider his bond. In December, Lee set Murdaugh's bond at $7 million for 48 charges from a state grand jury.

South Carolina law enforcement officials will exhume housekeeper’s body in death investigation

South Carolina law enforcement officials announced on Friday that they sought and received permission from the family of Gloria Satterfield, a former housekeeper for suspended attorney Alex Murdaugh, to exhume her remains.

Satterfield, who spent more than two decades as a housekeeper for the Murdaugh family, died in 2018 in what was described as a “trip and fall accident” at the Murdaugh home, according to attorney Eric Bland, who is representing her estate.

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) said last year that it was opening a criminal investigation into Satterfield’s death, based upon a request from the Hampton County coroner that highlights inconsistencies in the ruling of Satterfield’s manner of death, as well as information gathered during SLED’s other ongoing investigations involving Murdaugh.

“The decedent’s death was not reported to the Coroner at the time, nor was an autopsy performed. On the death certificate the manner of death was ruled ‘Natural,’ which is inconsistent with injuries sustained in a trip and fall accident,” the coroner’s request to SLED said.

After Satterfield’s death, a $500,000 wrongful death claim was filed against Murdaugh on behalf of Satterfield’s estate, Bland said. According to him, the estate has not yet received any of the $500,000 owed as the result of a civil settlement in 2018.

South Carolina law enforcement opens criminal investigation into 2018 death of Murdaugh family's housekeeper

SLED says the exhumation process will take weeks, not days. The investigation is still active and ongoing.

Murdaugh, who is accused of financial wrongdoing and setting up a suicidal insurance fraud scheme, was charged with 23 more crimes in four new indictments returned by a grand jury in January. The indictments bring to 71 the number of charges Murdaugh faces stemming from accusations he defrauded victims of nearly $8.5 million in various schemes.

He’s also facing other charges, including those stemming from being shot in the head on a roadway in September and surviving. Authorities said he admitted the shooting was a conspiracy with a former client to kill him as part of a fraud scheme so his only surviving son could collect an insurance payout of about $10 million.

In that case, Murdaugh was charged with insurance fraud, conspiracy to commit insurance fraud and with filing a false police report.

Authorities said other investigations into his family are underway, looking into the June deaths of Murdaugh’s wife, Margaret, and other son, Paul, who were gunned down at their family estate in Islandton. That case is unsolved. Murdaugh has denied responsibility in those deaths.

I'm happy that they're allowing it, but what are they going to be able to find after years? I could see for a tox if they suspected poisoning, but usually when it comes to trauma they need skin. A fall down the stairs can look the same as blunt force trauma with dealing with decomposed people. I could be wrong though. It's worth checking in to if the family allows it. I just don't know how much they'll have to work with.

Alex Murdaugh charged in money laundering and drug scheme

Once prominent and soon-to-be disbarred South Carolina lawyer Alex Murdaugh has been indicted again, this time prosecutors saying his crimes extended to an eight-year money laundering and painkiller ring with a friend and former client charged with trying to help him commit suicide.

Murdaugh wrote 437 checks worth $2.4 million that Curtis ?Eddie? Smith cashed over eight years, keeping some of the money for himself and giving the rest for wide-ranging illegal activities, according to indictments handed up last week and unsealed Tuesday.

That illegal activity included a "distribution network" for the painkiller oxycodone, according to prosecutors, who did not specify any of the other possible crimes. Both men were charged with possessing, manufacturing or distributing narcotics, but court records did not provide additional details.

It's the 16th indictment against Murdaugh on charges ranging from lying to police and trying to arrange his own death to stealing money from clients to arranging a $4.3 million in wrongful death settlements for a housekeeper who died in a fall at his home, then not giving her family a dime.

But still unsolved are the shooting deaths of Murdaugh's wife and younger son outside their home in June 2021. Their killings are not referenced in any of the new indictments and both Murdaugh and Smith have adamantly said they had nothing to do with them.

Murdaugh and Smith started laundering more money and stopped taking precautions to avoid detection about three months before the killings, said Creighton Waters, the chief of the state Attorney General Office's State Grand Jury Division.

Waters did not give any more details at Smith's bond hearing Tuesday.

Murdaugh is also awaiting a formal order revoking his law license. He decided to not fight the state Supreme Court's decision last week, which ends the legal career of a member of a prominent family that has dominated the legal scene in tiny Hampton County for nearly a century. Murdaugh?s father, grandfather and great-grandfather were the area?s elected prosecutors for 87 years straight.

Murdaugh, 54, was charged in the latest indictments with criminal conspiracy and possessing, manufacturing or distributing narcotics.

Most of the indictments were against Smith, who met Murdaugh when he needed a lawyer for a worker's compensation suit. After his law firm discovered he was stealing money, Smith is the man Murdaugh said he called when he wanted someone to kill him so his surviving son could collect a $10 million life insurance policy.

Smith's shot only grazed Murdaugh's head on the side of a two-lane road last September, police said. Both men were charged last year in that incident.

Smith, 61, now faces four counts of money laundering, three counts of forgery, possessing, manufacturing or distributing narcotics. trafficking in methamphetamine and other charges. Each money laundering charge on its own carries up to 20 years in prison.

At his bond hearing Tuesday, Smith told the judge he was pulled into the scheme not by his own choice and he looked forward to clearing his name. His bond was set at $250,000.

Smith's lawyer said he is not sure his client can afford it.

"We?re just going to have to wait and let more facts come out,? Jarrett Bouchette said. ?As we?ve seen over the last year or so, things have changed over time that weren?t what they initially appeared to be.?[/QUOTE]

Sources: Charges likely against Alex Murdaugh this week in killing of wife, son
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WCBD) ? New developments are anticipated this week in the killings of Paul and Margaret Murdaugh, more than a year after they were found dead at a family property in Colleton County.

Multiple sources tell News 2 that one-time Hampton County attorney Alex Murdaugh is expected to be indicted in the killing of his wife and son by a South Carolina Grand Jury.

Investigators will likely discuss their findings in the case before the state Grand Jury on Thursday.

Murdaugh?s attorney, Jim Griffin, said that the State Law Enforcement Division met with the Murdaugh family to let them know that charges were forthcoming.

?We have not been advised by anyone associated with law enforcement or the Attorney General?s office that Alex will be charged with murder. I am aware that SLED advised the family that they intend to seek murder indictments from a grand jury later this week. We won?t have any comment until charges are actually brought against Alex,? said Griffin.

News 2 has reached out to the South Carolina Attorney General?s Office and the State Law Enforcement Division but neither agency was able to confirm or provide additional information.

?SLED?s investigation into the murders of Maggie and Paul Murdaugh is still active and ongoing. Agents are committed to the integrity of the investigation, thus no additional information from SLED will be provided at this time,? the agency said in a statement.

Mother and son Paul, 22, and Margaret, 52, were discovered by Alex Murdaugh near dog kennels at a property off Moselle Road on the night of June 7, 2021.

?I need the police and an ambulance immediately. My wife and child have been shot badly,? Alex can be heard telling a 9-1-1 dispatcher that night, audibly shaken.

With the sound of dogs barking in the background, he described the scene, telling dispatchers his wife and son were on the ground no longer moving or breathing. ?I?ve been up to it now, it?s bad,? he said, repeatedly asking for law enforcement to hurry.

Autopsy results revealed the two had been shot multiple times, but little additional information about what happened that night has been released.

While his own attorneys have admitted that Alex is considered a person of interest in the double homicide, the State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) has provided no insight into other parties who may be involved, nor have they offered additional information on what might have led to the shootings.
Fucking, no shit he had something to do with it.
