Homicide Detectives Investigate Body Found Floating in Long Beach Harbor

    https://www.nbclosangeles.com/news/l...arbor/2582632/

A body was found floating in the water near Long Beach Harbor Monday and detectives are investigating the death as a murder.

Long Beach Police Department officers responded to the 1100 block of Pier F at about 9:55 a.m. to assist the Long Beach Harbor Patrol with the body, police said.

An investigation revealed the body was located near the water's edge and the person sustained an unspecified injury to their upper body. The cause of the injury was unknown.

Homicide detectives were called to the scene and are investigating the death as a murder due to "suspicious circumstances."

The coroner's office took possession of the body and will work to determine the cause of death, identify the victim and notify the next of kin, police said.

Anyone with information regarding the death can call LBPD Detective Eric Thai at 562-570-7244.

I've looked all over for an update on this. Are there so many bodies floating around in Long Beach Harbor that the news channel doesn't even bother updating the stories anymore? Just another day in paradise. Too bad JL has been perma-banned. I'm sure he could find us an update to his story. Several. Dozens maybe....

Sadly, there's s lot of homicide and death cases here so some never even make the radar while others remain just a forgotten blip. Unless there's some kind of unique angle on a story, reporters will pretty much forget about it.

ETA: If I had to guess, it was probably a suicide because there's a huge bridge in that area known for it.

I don't know, the police think it's murder because he had a "gruesome injury" to his torso. Of course, a boat propeller can cause gruesome injuries, I suppose. That was in another article almost exactly like the one JL posted, but it added the "gruesome injury" part.

Yeah, I just saw that they were investigating as a homicide. I guess it just got buried by other news.
