Author, Larry McMurtry (84) died of heart failure

Larry McMurtry, the prolific and popular author who took readers back to the old American West in his Pulitzer Prize-winning ?Lonesome Dove? and returned them to modern-day landscapes in works such as ?Terms of Endearment,? has died at 84.

Lonesome Dove is my favorite book, period. McMurtry wrote some great novels that I absolutely cherish - aside from the Lonesome Dove series, he wrote Leaving Cheyenne, Terms of Endearment and The Last Picture Show (and volumes and volumes more).

I have a shelf devoted to him, and recently completed my collection of first edition hardcovers of the Lonesome Dove series.

RIP, sir. Thanks for the writing and inspiration.

    Cont.
his arm around mine. "Thank you. Now, stay here."
I looked around the room. "Is there something wrong?"
He shook his head. "No, I just don't want to talk about Lonesome Dove for five minutes..."
RIP Larry, thanks for leaving us the words.

He's not wrong. The Last Picture Show is absolutely one of the greatest.

Looks like Craig Johnson wrote the Longmire books. I loved the show, so I'll have to start reading those!

The books are even better. Craig is a great guy. He lives near hear and frequently does (or did before the plague) book signings at various libraries around here. Always fun events.
