A Texas woman on parole after serving five years in prison for the violent death of her 1-month-old son has been charged with leaving her newborn daughter in a water-filled toilet in September.
The little girl survived, but police in Conroe, Texas, have now charged Denette Williams with endangering a child, according to Texas outlet The Courier.
Williams reportedly informed officers she wasn't aware she was pregnant before the birth of her newborn daughter and ' when asked days earlier ' told her own mother she wasn't sure. But at 3 a.m. on Sept. 3, feeling uncomfortable, the 34-year-old woman went to the bathroom and heard a 'plop' in the toilet, which was the little girl being born. Williams then jumped into the shower, 10 feet away.
Hearing screams, Williams' boyfriend rushed into the bathroom, found the little girl head-down in the bloody toilet bowl and pulled her out. The baby was treated at a Texas hospital, where medical staffers estimated the child had been carried for nearly nine months.
In their investigation, cops discovered Williams had applied for SNAP benefits and identified herself as pregnant months before delivering her daughter in the bathroom of her mother's home.
At the time of that delivery, she was out on parole after serving half of a 10-year sentence in connection with the death of her baby boy, who died of blunt force injuries including a broken neck, in 2011. Williams' children are with different fathers.
Williams is out of $50,000 bond as she awaits trial in the case involving her daughter. She could reportedly a two-year prison term and a $10,000 fine.
Her attorney said the defense would work to find the 'truth' and that 'we may find that Denette is not the hideous monster that the state is trying to portray her as.'
