A submerged vehicle found in the Carolina Forest area is tied to a missing persons case, according to police.
According to authorities, that vehicle was the one that missing person Rodriquez Gibbs may have been driving. An HCPD spokesperson said the car was discovered by a helicopter with the State Law Enforcement Division that was assisting in the search.
A tweet from the Horry County Police Department said a 2003 Ford Taurus was found in a pond near Renee Drive on Thursday. Dive teams were later called to the scene but found no sign of Gibbs.
After diving for hours Thursday afternoon, officials called off the search for the night due to it getting dark. Horry County Fire Rescue spokesman Tony Casey said they plan to resume the search Friday morning.
Gibbs was last seen at 11 p.m. Jan. 6 at Handley?s Pub & Grub on Renee Drive near Carolina Forest, according to the HCPD.
Police said Gibbs remains missing at this time and the missing person investigation is ongoing.
