Maya "May" Millete (39) missing from Chula Vista, CA since 1/7/2021

    https://www.10news.com/news/local-ne...a-vista-mother

Maya Millete was last seen at her Chula Vista home on Thursday night. Her brother-in-law says she vanished without a trace.

Richard Drouaillet says the family knew something was wrong when she stopped answering calls.

"We had plans Big Bear and she never replied Thursday," Drouaillet said worried.

Drouaillet said Millete would never leave her three young children ? ages 4, 9, and 11 ? and she would never miss her eldest daughter's birthday which was on Sunday.

"She just turned 11 and for her miss that, it's not possible. We just pray to God that she comes home safe and contacts one of us," Drouaillet said.

Millete works as a contract specialist for Naval Base San Diego. Chula Vista Police have interviewed her husband, who is her high school sweetheart. He last saw her at home on Thursday.

Detectives say the couple had marital problems but at this point they have no leads or any indication of foul play. Drouaillet says the couple got into an argument the day before her disappearance.

"He says it's not the first time she has gone away, but my wife knows her sister really well, and she knows that this is not normal," Drouaillet said.

The family has set up this Facebook page ? waiting on pins and needles.

"It's overwhelming, there's nothing else to do but get her home. That's the number one thing ... Find her, get her home," said Drouaillet.

ABC 10News has reached out to Millete's husband but has not heard back.
I cannot find any story on this woman except this one.

Another article just popped up a few minutes ago.

The family of a Chula Vista woman who has been missing for days is seeking the public’s help in locating their loved one.

Maya “May” Millete, 39, was last seen Thursday evening in her Chula Vista home near the San Miguel Ranch area, according to her loved ones. Family and friends said her car is still at her home and her phone has been going to voicemail since her disappearance.

Hospitals, jails and morgues have been contacted by the woman’s kin, but they said she has not been found at any of those locations.

Millete is described as being 5-feet-2-inches tall and weighs about 105 pounds. She has brown hair and eyes, and also has freckles. Millete has a wrist tattoo, according to her loved ones.

Maya and Larry Millete are high school sweethearts married for 21 years with three children — ages 4, 9, and 11.

Maya has been missing from her Chula Vista home since last week. Millete says they had argued the night before.

"We had problems this year, up and downs," Millete told ABC 10News.

He said his wife has left before for the night to blow off steam, but he became worried when she didn't show up for their daughter's birthday on Sunday.

"That was a gutwrenching feeling ... you know, you kind of break down a little bit ... she would never, ever not even say 'hey honey, happy birthday,'" Millete said. "There's something keeping her from contacting us."

It appears she took her phone but has not responded to any phone calls.

"I text her, I don't know if she's getting it, I say, 'hey babe, at least let us know ... or call someone,'" Millete said.

Her Jeep, which she would take to meetups with other Jeep owners, is still at home.

"If she didn't have her car, a friend would have to pick her up. That's the only reason I was like, 'maybe she's wine tasting or hiking with a friend,'" says Millete.

Maya works as a defense contractor at Naval Base San Diego and didn't show up for work on Monday.

"I called her boss, she didn't even log in. And that's the other alarming part, because work for her is like a party ... that's her outlet," Millete says.

Millete says he will continue to search, anxiously waiting.

"Trust me, I've been emotionally, physically, mentally drained," Millete said. "No sleep, I'm not eating ... The main thing is I can't really think straight."

Maya's family will meet to search for her at 10 a.m. at Mount San Miguel Park on Wednesday and Friday.

    I love her freckles.

I hate that women feel the need to cover that beauty up with makeup just to satisfy society's request that women look "perfect" all the time.

Hope she's found alive, and soon.

That was me! I HATED my freckles growing up. They have faded with age but are still there. I think. I never really pay attention anymore. Now my attention is on the bags under my eyes Getting old!

I am really side-eyeing the hubby on this.

Maya Millete (39) Reported missing in Chula Vista, CA since 01/08/2020

    https://fox5sandiego.com/news/local-...ista-mom-of-3/

CHULA VISTA, Calif. ? The search continues for a Chula Vista wife and mother of three who?s now been missing for a week.

Friends and family of 39-year-old Maya Millete are holding out hope that she will make it home safely. More than 150 people have been a part of search parties this week scouring for any signs of Millete, who also goes by May, after she was reported missing Jan. 8.

Chula Vista police confirmed Saturday that they are still actively searching for Millete and working her missing person case.

?This has been agonizing,? Millete?s sister Maricris Drouaillet said Friday. ?It?s been a nightmare.?

Much of the activity this week has taken place in the area of Mount San Miguel Park near Millete?s home. At the time of her disappearance, her car still was in the driveway and her phone was reported as being off.

It is possible she may have gone hiking in the canyon behind her family?s home. But Millete?s daughter?s birthday was last Saturday, an event her family says she wouldn?t have missed.
?We haven?t really had any specific clues yet,? Drouaillet said. ?There?s no leads yet on what happened or where she?s at.?

Millete?s husband, Larry Millete, has been home with the family?s children and asked for privacy. He did not participate in search parties Wednesday or Friday and was not in attendance at a vigil on Thursday. Drouaillet told FOX 5 on Tuesday that he and Maya have been together since they were 18 and married for 22 years, but also that ?there?s been some marital issues.?
Chula Vista police say Larry Millete is fully cooperating with the ongoing investigation into his wife?s disappearance.

Maya Millete is described as being 5-foot-2 and about 105 pounds with brown hair, brown eyes, freckles and a wrist tattoo.

Anyone who has seen Millete or who has information on her whereabouts is urged to contact the Chula Vista Police Department at 619-691-5151.

You can also use the Help Find May Facebook page to communicate with volunteers and the family.

It's now been two weeks since anyone has heard from Maya Millete. The 39-year-old, from Chula Vista, went missing on Thursday, Jan. 7. Her family hasn't stopped looking for her since.

The family has gathered with the community for two searches in the South Bay, they've created a Facebook search page, handed out fliers, and most recently hired a private investigator.

Maya, who also goes by May, missed her now 11-year-old's birthday, that is when the family grew even more concerned saying it was not like her to leave her children.

The Chula Vista Police Department served a search warrant Saturday at the home of a Chula Vista mom who disappeared at the beginning of the month.

May "Maya" Millete was last seen on January 7, two days before a planned family trip to Big Bear for her daughter’s birthday. May has not been heard of or seen since.

On Saturday, CVPD continued investigating the case by serving a search warrant at her home in Paseo Los Gatos in Chula Vista.

"The goal of the warrant was to obtain any evidence and clues to her current whereabouts. The Chula Vista Police Department's focus will continue to be locating May safe and in good health," CVPD said in a statement.

Police say the Millete family has been and continues to be cooperative and the investigation is ongoing.

Husband of missing Chula Vista woman retains lawyer, no longer answering questions

The husband of a missing Chula Vista woman has retained an attorney and no longer is answering police questions, authorities said Wednesday.

Maya “May” Millete, a 39-year-old wife and mother of three, was reported missing Jan. 8, prompting a number of searches, including of the trails of Mount San Miguel Park near her home in Chula Vista. Police previously said her husband, Larry Millete, was cooperating with their investigation.

Few concrete details have emerged over the weeks Millete has been missing. Family members told FOX 5 she may have gone hiking in the canyon behind the family’s home, but search efforts have been unsuccessful.

Police served a search warrant at the family’s home Jan. 23 in an effort “to obtain any evidence and clues to her current whereabouts,” noting in a release that the Millete family had been cooperative during the investigation. Authorities said Larry Millete turned over his cellphone early on in the search and that there had been no calls to their home before his wife’s disappearance.

He has not attended any of the community-led searches or vigils for his wife — instead staying home with the family’s children — and has asked for privacy.

Richard Drouaillet, Maya Millete’s brother-in-law, said Saturday, “Yeah, it’d be nice to see him out here, you know, but I’m sure he does miss her, and I’m sure he’s probably broken at home.”

In a Jan. 21 virtual prayer for Millete, her niece, Mikah Tabalanza, thanked the community “for giving us the strength and sending all those people to help us.”

Larry Millete previously told FOX 5 he thought his wife may have left Jan. 8 to have some alone time.

“Initially, that’s what I thought,” he said last month. “But as the days go by, it’s very unlikely that that’s it, because she wouldn’t be gone this long. I’m still very hopeful that will all this media coverage, she’ll turn up and say, ‘Hey, I’m okay.’”

He added, “I love you honey, just come back home.”

Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact the Chula Vista Police Department at 619-691-5139 or San Diego Crime Stoppers anonymous tip line at 888-580-8477.

California missing mother's family says husband wasn't acting normal before wife vanished

The brother-in-law of a California mother of three who has been missing for a month told Fox News on Sunday that she and her husband had been having marriage problems that were becoming "hard to ignore."

Maya "May" Millete went missing from her Chula Vista home on Jan. 7. The city is about 10 miles south of San Diego.

Her brother-in-law, Richard Drouaille, said Maya and her husband, Larry Millete, had been having marital issues for at least a year.

"It was kind of hard to ignore. But, I mean, it's just like any other relationship they get to arguing, sometimes they're happy, sometimes they're not. But the thing that really stood out for me was that our last family trip to (Glamis Sand Dunes), it wasn't really Larry," Drouaille said. "He wasn't acting like he would normally act."

At first, he said, the family assumed the couple, who have three children, would work out their problems.

"It was just like, 'Oh, they're adults, they'll work it out.' But it's now it's kind of like, 'OK, maybe we should have stepped in a little sooner," he said.

Fox News has reached out to Larry Millete with a request for comment but received no response.

Hubby lawyered up and is refusing to answer any more questions. I get lawyering up, but not answering questions? I don't understand that.

I'm not putting much weight on him not attending vigils/searches. Everybody handles these things differently and there are young children involved. Staying with them and asking for privacy seems reasonable to me. The children are better off having his support at home. It's not like they are searching a specific area because they have information she was there. It's a big world out there and (if she's alive) she could be anywhere.

Missing California woman scheduled appointment with divorce lawyer day she disappeared, family lawyer says

Maya Millete, the California mom-of-three who has been missing for nearly four months, scheduled an appointment with a divorce attorney the day she went missing, a lawyer who is helping the family told Fox News on Wednesday.

"She filled out the form. She was going to meet with a divorce attorney. That was a Thursday," Billy Little said, referring to the date she was last seen on Jan. 7, 2021 at the family’s home in Chula Vista. The city is in San Diego County, near the U.S.-Mexico border.

"The following Tuesday was her appointment. But she filled out the entire form the day she went missing," Little said.

Her husband, Larry Millete, was reportedly the last person to see her. He initially told authorities his wife left to have some time alone. But her family grew concerned when she did not return for her daughter’s 11th birthday.

Millete’s sister, Maricris Drouaillet, and Drouaillet’s husband Richard have been leading search efforts to find Millete. Larry participated in some of the search efforts early on, but eventually stopped cooperating with police.

Fox News has reached out to her husband with a request for comment but did not hear back before publication.

Chula Vista Police Capt. Eric Thunberg told KSWB, the Fox affiliated TV station in San Diego, that Millete’s disappearance "is not a cold case."

"We have an investigator and a team of investigators that we call upon when necessary. That detective has been working this pretty much full-time since the get-go," he said.
I think we all know what happened.

I don't know how these jerks think murder is better than divorce. It's such a betrayal of someone you once claimed to love.

Agreed, and how do they think they are going to get away with it? It might take awhile, but they pretty much all get caught.

Well yeah. I'm sorry but I always suspect the spouse, and I'm sure the police do too.

California missing woman's husband planned murder-for-hire scheme targeting alleged boyfriend: witness

The plot in the desperate search to find a missing California mother of three just thickened.

A source tells Fox News that Maya Millete's husband suspected her of having a boyfriend -- and that's where the accusations against Larry Millete take an even darker turn.

The witness who heard the conversations first-hand told Fox News exclusively that Larry Millete frequently discussed paying someone $20,000 to kill his missing wife's alleged boyfriend.

Larry Millete "seemed pretty serious," the witness said, about the alleged murder-for-hire plot.

He allegedly started concocting the plan last summer when he first suspected his wife was seeing someone else but mentioned it as recently as Jan. 4, just a few days before Maya went missing.

One of Maya Millete's family members said Larry Millete made threatening comments about the alleged boyfriend last summer, saying, "I want to do something to that fool."

Larry Millete did not respond to multiple questions from Fox News about the alleged murder-for-hire plot.

Despite the threats against Maya Millete's alleged boyfriend, the witness said he never feared for Maya's safety.

But Maya told family members on a camping trip just days before she went missing, "If anything happened to me, it would be Larry."

The witnesses talked to Fox News on the condition of anonymity because they fear for their safety.

A Chula Vista Police Department spokesperson said they are aware of the alleged murder-for-hire plot and are investigating it along with other leads in the case.

The alleged boyfriend could not be reached for comment.

Larry and Maya Millete allegedly had martial problems for at least a year before her disappearance on Jan. 7, which is the same day that she scheduled an appointment with a divorce lawyer for the following week.

Surveillance video records 6 loud bangs on night Maya Millete went missing

Surveillance video from the Chula Vista neighborhood where a missing mother of three lived, captured what sounded like six gunshots on the night Maya Millete went missing.

News 8 obtained an audio recording of the loud bangs, which already has been turned over to Chula Vista Police.

The six bangs can be heard on the recording over a period of 20 seconds.

First, a cluster of five bangs can be heard, then a dog starts barking in the neighborhood. Then, there is a 10-second gap, followed by a final bang.

The neighbor who provided News 8 the recording wanted to remain anonymous and did not want the video portion aired on TV because it identifies their house.

It was recorded around 10 p.m. on Thursday, January 7, the same night Maya went missing and the same night her husband, Larry Millete, reportedly had an argument with his wife.

News 8 caught up Thursday afternoon with Larry Millete's father, Benito, walking to the park with two of his grandchildren.

Investigative producer David Gotfredson asked him about all the speculation swirling around the missing person case.

“The speculation is Maya, she go by herself, OK? Just like the first statement, right?” the grandfather said.

News 8 also asked Benito Millete about the ongoing search for Maya.

“The family of Maya is looking for a dead body. We're still waiting,” he said.

The 68-year-old also told News 8 that nobody heard any gunshots on the night Maya went missing.

On the same surveillance video, the neighbor told News 8 the recording picks up audio of children playing in a backyard at around 10:30 p.m.

The neighbors gave the recording to Chula Vista Police the week after Maya disappeared.

CVPD Captain Eric Thunberg emailed News 8 the following statement:

“We have no comment and will not comment on any evidence or potential evidence in this case. Such comments complicate and potentially hinder the investigation."

The family of Maya Millete is holding a March for May community awareness event on Sunday, April 11 at Chula Vista Community Park:
